Time to buff Steal: Enter Boon Negation

Hear me out, steal is amazing as is, its a core mechanic of thief that can be pretty useful but at the same time feels lacking with the reapplication of boons consistent with nearly every class.

My suggestion would be to make ALL thief steal mechanics work in tandem with the change im about to mention.

 

steal will steal one boon (base unless traited) from the foe and lock foe out of receiving that boon until steal is used again or until the STOLEN ITEM is used, similar to how spellbreaker bubble works. If you manage to steal a boon with steal its yours until you steal again / use your stolen skill  with full duration on YOU but permanently off the foe until you steal again / use a stolen skill that you got from the foe. Sitting on not using the steal ability vs using it or using the stolen skill is a BIG decision but you have a great payoff if you use the stolen skills although once you use the stolen skill you have to wait for steal cooldown to get it back.

Stolen skills would need to be buffed as well but traits that benefit from steal can give you more boons and lock your foe out of those boons for the duration.

This is up for discussion but its time to adjust the core mechanic of steal to make it more thiefy

It really doesn't need it, and as Fueki said, the skill is already fairly bloated.  The only thing affected is BT which, honestly, isn't even really that affected.  Boon duration/no boons is better than removing long duration boons which will still already happen, anyways.

 

The class needs its damage options back more than anything else and way more possible kits to use.  The fact Daredevil is literally the best pure-offense traitline is pathetic.

While I agree removing a boon should prevent that boon from being reapplied right away, I completely disagree with making it exclusive to thief and make it last that long.

 

It should be something that happens for all boon removal, and last 2s or so.  Same when you cleanse a condition. Remove a condition, it can't be reapplied for 2s or so.

 

Once that's in place, maybe thieves could have a trait reworked to increase that time from 2s to 4s, or something like that.
