Leechers in Dragonstorm [Merged]

I don't do it out of respect but honestly I understand them. This is the only way to get the 2nd infusion and this mission is a torture 

Having to kill the same sponges 3 times ...Level 0 in terms of mechanics and fun. Each time I tell myself that arena could not do worse and they get there, it's frankly absurd.

As far as farming goes, DS isn't that effective I believe. One may be better off farming the gold and purchasing off of BLT with that low drop rate than AFK griefing others. Hell There's some afk farming tactics that prominent streamers have been posting. Just do that and buy it. Not that I really appreciate AFKers of any sort (you know, borking the economy for legitimate players), but if you're gonna AFK, at least don't be a jerk about it.

Half afking watching youtube on second screen is still less effort then farming enough gold to buy a second infusion tho.

Given my rng with infusions, the gold feels like it'd be more deterministic, but okay.

Considering thats not the only valueable drop you can get stormcaller weapons and aurene ascended chest aswell. ( alot less effort then the dragonfall meta)

I guess it's about what you want. The stream I viewed showed more thank 400k VM from an AFK farm. The Volcanic SC weapons aren't a big deal if you max the mastery (which you need to do for the infusion as well.) You can get them far cheaper from a weekly vendor.

Not for Dragonstand. You can literally just afk near the fight the entire time and still get rewards. I've done it.

I hate farming in the true sense of the word. I prefer to win money slowly with fractals, raids, strikes and pvp
The price of the infusion was 5000 golds, 2 weeks ago, I don't know where it is now
But it would take a long time to come up with such a sum of money
I much prefer to try my luck in the dragon storm

Really bored of seeing 25% of the people in the event just camping the entrance or standing around doing nothing.

Given that the instance locks, just a requirement that X amount of damage or healing has to be done in order to get credit for the meta, and reward. Say, minimum 200K/300K/500K damage. That means people contributing who only do a small amount of dps, but are consistently fighting, will still get credit. It would also mean that anyone who has to step away from the fight for a short time (e.g. to deal with a child) would still get credit because they would have contributed at other times.

I have a solution: completely change the event, make it interesting with originals mechanics to keep the player awake.

HP sponges tend to put people to sleep and encourage this kind of practice. 

So imagine that you have to kill not once, not twice but three times these fabulous bosses.

 

Strangely, we saw a lot less people afk during the Twisted Marionette world boss, surely a simple coincidence🙃

 

Or in the worst case, if arena want to keep this mission worthy of a bad power rangers episode, they can avoid linking to it an interesting infusion that forces you to chain this content for 3 years.

That's simply because there were no megaserver back then.
Right after finishing the Marionette, people started joining their server's map and tried to get away from their overflow (because they mostly weren't organized).
Because of that people had to be active just to join organized maps.
And that means almost all afk players were left back on overflow maps without ogranization.
 

Also the whole event was temporary, which makes a big difference.
People do an event more often and more active, if the know that it's gone in two weeks.
If an event is permanent, like Dragonstorm, people more likely tend to go afk and just wait for the loot.
Because they can play actively whenever they want. In two weeks, in two months or in two years.

It is mainly because this event was amazing. The proof there is overwhelming demand for years for a comeback.

Dragon Strom gets slaughtered on the forum, re-edit and in-game

Dragon Strom is one of the most boring event in the game , it doesn't make you want to get involved.

Believe me if you had an original instance with innovative mechanics, players would enjoy doing it.  Unfortunately the infusion loot rate is ridiculously low so many players will stay afk for months

The whole fight takes what like 10 minutes, I hate hp sponges as much as the next guy but this fight is fine. I'm not bored because I have achievements to do in there. You're not forced to farm it for infusion, as far as I know they're all tradeable on the TP. If I've learned 1 thing playing MMOs for the last 15+ years its that rng sucks and if you want something and its tradeable, just save up and buy it while you do content you enjoy. If its some account bound then you got me there.

I really want this infusion like a lot of players. And it's going to take a while considering the loot rate. Considering the price this infusion has in the trading post, I prefer to try my luck 10 min per day. And I never said I was afk, I understand those who did it because this instance represents everything many people hate in a mmo

The price is way too high, I mainly only do raids, fractals, strikes and pvp so it would take years at this rate just for an eye. No I hope they will make it more accessible soon After the achievements are over and you don't have to focus on them anymore. Braham and Ryland are the epitome of hp sponges. No challenge, no mechanics, just an endless life bar to be done 3 times. I wonder how arena can have so little imagination to the point of making a final instance of this level. It's sad ... Gw2 deserves better.

I completely understand your point of view, it is annoying to be fighting while you see a crowd watching from afar.

 

But hey, i'm one of these dudes that prefers to alt tab and watch a video during the meta, I didn't do it for the gold or rewards, but for the AP that I much care to get. and anet putting these "Do this event at least 20+ times to get all achievements" doesn't help at all.

 

Now, I want you to see it from my perspective. this is a massive event, a lot of people partake in it, so it really feels like it wouldn't make much differience if I was actually hitting the healthsponges  or just afking and not putting any effort on it. This event by itself is really easy and feels like its impossible to fail as long as you have a decent number of people pressing 1 (unlike Chak Gerent).

 

Now from yet ANOTHER point of view, I also would feel really upset when i'm actually participating on the event, pulling my Raid/Fractal CM dps rotation and doing high numbers of damage while there are like 10+ rangers camping longbow and pewpewing the boss from long distance, causing Braham or Ryland to constantly leap around and forcing the whole zerg to constantly move chasing the bosses.

Leechers exists everywhere whether it be those who do the bare minimum to get credit or those who don't pull their weight.  This really isn't something which can easily be resolved.

Amazing back in LS1.
And people kept/keep their rose-coloured glasses on, while demanding a comeback.
Yes back then it was amazing, but compared to nowadays' events/bosses it was way less spectacular as many think.
So your proof isn't really a proof.

Same as before, but otherway round.
If we had an event like Dragonstorm back in LS1 and only for two weeks,
people would be amazed by it and would demand it back like they demand the Marionette back.

People do that everywhere, Drakkar, Tequatl, Triple Trouble...
If it's a permanent encounter, there will people being afk/leeching.
No matter how original, innovative or fun the fight or machanics are,
it will always be the same and after a few weeks even active people will loose interest.
You can't create mechanics that are different or feels new after the 100th time.

imo, leave open world alone: you all have cms, strike missions, and raids to be elitist in so why ruin something everyone, no matter their skill/gear level should be able to enjoy? next people are going to suggest a min dps of 20k to get credit for open world stuff. /eyeroll.
