Multiple accounts question

Recommended Posts

Dear ArenaNet,

I have a question for you about owning multiple accounts.

Is it legit to own 40 or more accounts with daily login reward enabled on them and just profiting from them to generate thousands of gold a month with little to no efforts?

I am wondering because I only own 1 account and owning many of them enables users to generate more gold than what the GemsToGold conversion can provide at the same price in real life money.

Edit: If your company is intended to restrict or contrast alt account gold farming I have a few ideas on how to put an end to this unfair method which enables players to farm an insane amount of gold by not playing the game.

Regards

Oh someone saw teapots video on youtube.

They paid for those accounts it take 3-6 months of continualy login in to break even.

Never used launchbuddy but I bet it take more then the 4 mins he speaks of in that video daily to login and log out to all of em.

If you want to pay for 39 more account go ahead and pay Anet 585-1170 bucks Im pretty sure they will be happy.

Alt account gold farming is something way older than Teapot's video, if you do your search on youtube or around the internet there are videos older than Teapot's. The gold farmers are all being exposed because it's no longer a secret anymore.

It's not against any rules to own and play (even to just log into a character on) multiple accounts.

If you feel it's an easy way to accrue gold, go ahead and purchase some additional accounts.

Thank you very much, there is still more that needs to be clarified by Anet, specifically what the company means with this. Does this mean every account must be played attended?:

  • -You must be actively playing on each account.

Who says Anet is going to profit from it? If people bought alt accounts from a third party website Anet wouldn't get a penny in profit because those accounts already existed.

Is it allowed? Yes it is!
But...there are asome rules.
You can use a program to launch multiple instances of the game at once or manage logins for different accounts. You are not allowed to automate gameplay or multibox,
So each click you do in the game, should result in one action in one account in the game.

So when you have e.g. fourty games, it should mean 40 times:
Login the game
select a character and hit play
login a map
collect the daily reward and if needed handle the profit
close the game (this is one of the only ones that are allowed to automate as there are many reasons for closing multiple instances of the game. So it is ok to keep an instance open while you move to the next, but at one point it has to be closed again)

It means, among other things, you can log into an account, collect the Daily Log-in Rewards, log out, log into the next account, collect the Daily Log-in Rewards, log out, log into the next account, etc., etc.

Or, you can log into all account simultaneously, but only initiate an action on one account at a time.

Again, nothing against any rules about owning/playing on multiple accounts.  Many do so, just to collect rewards.  I have two accounts; I always log into the alternate account to secure any free give-aways and Living World Episodes, and occasionally do Dailies on that account.  Perfectly acceptable.

I mean, it is cheesy and quite discouraging to see that the most efficient way to play the game is to spam the login button. Essentially you invest 250 gold worth of money and get 80 g / month back. I doubt this is worth it for Anet on the long-run, and certainly burns me out to hear as a casual player who throws in gem-money regularly. I'd certainly like to see them put an end to this.

It does take more time. After the 20th account, the time it takes to login increases significantly.  You are also limited to how many accounts that you can log in at once which reduces over time. You’ll quickly reach the point where you can try to log in multiple and only one will actually go through.

To cycle through 30 accounts take 19-21 minutes. Trying to “save” time by logging in multiple at once doesn’t really do much due to restrictions on Anet’s end.

It could be suspicious when ArenaNet employees detect like 10 accounts logging in from the same computer at the same time. Botters do this all the time and get banned for the botting.

Even when it is allowed you may risk getting caught for botting even when you don't. And then you have to go through a struggle with support to get the accounts unlocked again.

Taking a small break will avoid this, whereas spamming logins will only further increase the time it takes.

Yeah but at that point it becomes not worth it.  Or at least that's how I see it.

To be clear, a short break is like 5s between launches. How long you need to wait depends on how long it was taking to login. When the launcher times out (60s), you've made way too many attempts and need to wait ~30 seconds. It should only take 3~4 minutes to do 30 logins.

I did it while waiting for an account log in before launching another and it took 14 minutes.  The time it took to log in accounts still increased at the same rate as before although I didn't have any failed attempts because I was doing too many at once.  I don't see how 3-4 minutes is possible.
