Does "Legendary armory" imply that having three sets of legendary armor (heavy, medium, light) would cover all possible professions on one's account?

Recommended Posts

What's sad is that a large part of the community doesn't trust them anymore.
I hope they don't mess up their communication by saying several times it's free and when finally, they add a monetization for X or Y reason. 🧚‍♂️

It goes further than  legendary armory, it's their word that is questioned after announcing alliances that don't see the light of day, triple monetization of equipment models, promises of a Icebrood saga  worthy of an expansion, 1 episode that took 1 year to release in its entirety, promises of balancing, counterparts for specializations, ....

For a large part of the community they have lost confidence in the studio, which is sad.😰

With the legendary armory coming in a few months, I wanted to make a post that outlines the questions I and many others have with the armory. If ANET is able to answer these questions when they provide more information on the legendary armory, then the launch will be smoother!

1 - How/will we be able to reskin the legendary items across different characters? For example, if I am using legendary armor on 2 different characters via the armory, will we able to use different wardrobe skins for each character?

2 - Will we be able to disable the effects of the legendary trinkets? (aka Aurora). Will we be able to disable infusion effects? (i.e. Deldrimor Stoneskin Infusion)

3 - How will legendary armory work with regular runes/sigils? For example, if I have a legendary armor set, currently that characters has 6 runes. Will those 6 runes be able to be re-used across all characters that use the legendary armor via the armory? Or will each character need their own set of 6 runes? Same goes for sigils.

4 - Does the answer to #3 change if the runes/sigils are legendary?

5 - How will infusions work with the armory across characters? For example, if I have a full legendary character now that has 18 power infusions on template 1, and 18 condition infusions on template 2, how will that work with the armory? If all of the legendary items are able to be shared across characters, will those 36 infusions also be available for every character? Or will each character need their own set of infusions? (Particularly important for fractals)

That's all I can think of right now, but I can edit this post if folks add comments below.

They will announce details closer to the launch of legendary armory. The popular speculation is that it will be a vendor of sorts where you select the legendary you have obtained and you can receive that item to then equip that on a character. The item would not be sellable or salvageable.

They have not mentioned being able to disable trinket or infusion effects at all.

Runes/Sigils would not be available on other chars unless you had legendary runes. (but that also begs the question on if we will only have to unlock 1 rune or if we need to make 6)

Again, just speculation but there is no way they would let it duplicate runes/infusions.

I mean, legendary runs and sigils are legendary. So they count for the legendary armory. That means all your characters can share them.

Normal runs and sigils are exotic.  So they don't count for the legendary armory. That means you have to equip all your characters with their own.

The same with all infusions which are always ascended and not legendary.

And i highly assume you can't disable the effects of legendary trinkets.

@Keymaster.7362 and @LuRkEr.9462 I agree with both of your comments, but I don't believe we have heard those explicit answers from ANET. That's the purpose of this post. To make sure we get clear answers to these questions.

I hope you know there is basically no chance ANet would respond to this post with answers. You will have to wait with the rest of us for their preview of the armory probably a week or two before it releases in July.

There's already a similar thread to this one (even if we ignore all the questions that are in the legendary armory megathread).

As we've been told, we'll receive more info in 3 months. I would not expect them answering individual questions before that, unless someone will come up with something that they will consider too important to ignore (so far the only such exception was about the cost of legendary armory, and even that question wasn't exactly answered to the fulll satisfaction of the community)

I thought I made it clear when I said "If ANET is able to answer these questions when they provide more information on the legendary armory, then the launch will be smoother", that I wasn't expecting a response from ANET here. But now as I read it back...it wasn't that clear.

I mainly wanted just to list out items that people have been talking about but I haven't seen documented anywhere (though I clearly missed it based on the response above by Astral)

My goal was to make sure they are aware that the community has these questions, and that when they decide to release more information, that the answer to these questions should be crystal clear, regardless of what that answer is.

I think this is an important thing that they need to consider given that the true endgame of GW2 is Fashion Wars.

I doubt this, but would not mind it. I like fewer sparkles on my character.

I suspect that they will need their own set of non legendary runes.

Legendary runes and sigils are legendary and thus will be available in the armory.

Infusions are not legendary (yet? I bet there will be...) so they will not be available.

The armory will be most likely work like the actual implemented equipment slots. These slots will just be switched to account wide shared slots, that's the simplest solution with the least problems for the implementation.

Considering they've already told us that the Armory will be a part of the "template" system, it's 99% certain that it will work that way. Unless they changed their mind about it or are going to implement some changes to "template system" as well.

Good questions so far. My own addition:

  • What is the plan for "spare" Legendaries that are no longer required? For example, I presume that you will need at least 1 Light, 1 Medium and 1 Heavy armor set to have Legendary armor available for all of your characters, but what happens if you have 3 Light Legendary sets, 2 of which are no longer really needed thanks to the Armory? Will there be some way of salvaging/recycling these unneeded Legendaries?

I wanted to work on my first legendary rune, but if it is going to be inside the legendary armory, does that mean that we only need one rune? Or we need to unlock 6 runes for the armor and those 6 runes are going to be inside the legendary armory? I don't understand 😧 Also noob question here, but is the Legendary Armory going to work like the Heritage Armor panel from WoW?

It's just free, no scare quotes needed. 😄

Seriously, we will talk more about how the Legendary Armory works closer to release, but there is no gem or gold cost to access or use the Legendary Armory.

To those that have played WoW consider that it will mostly work like Heirlooms. They most definitely will not be salvagable and will be account bound. More than likely anything that will be "copied" out of your armory will have a different ID than ones that are crafted so it doesn't make coding a garbled mess.

That's all I can think of right now, but I can edit this post if folks add comments below.

1. Transmute Charges. From what I can gather from their responses on the matter is that it will either work like a vendor or possibly a new extension of your bank. "removes the need for you to swap legendary equipment between characters through your bank or shared inventory slots" to me means that you can make "copies" of a legendary you've unlocked on your account (more than likely no crafting and selling and still unlocking the leggo without binding it).

2. It's doubtful that any Trinket or infusion effects can be disabled since we can't currently do that now. There will however be a new Legendary Trinket coming soon from finishing the new Living World achievements, maybe it's effects will be minute or non-existent? We just don't know yet...

3. Buy/craft runes and sigils... how it works now. There'd be NO reason that the new system will save runes and sigils. More than likely you will make a "copy" of any legendary unlocked on your account/collections. "Copied" leggos will probably have a different item ID than ones you craft, firstly I highly doubt ANY "copies" will be salvageable, sellable, sellable... because that would be extreme levels of silliness. (think heirlooms from wow....)

4. Make a "copy" of them... then apply to "copied" armor and weapons.

5. Again, if you're going to make a "copy" of said legendary gear it will be a blank template. You will need to choose prefix, as well as add runes/sigils, add infusions. If you're wanting to still use said infusions across all characters you will still have to use bank/shared inventory to move them across characters. If Anet were to let players make copies of ALL infusions you'd see a pretty big part of the market/farming scene crash and burn.

Now some players on Guild Wars might not be accustomed to the Heirloom system on wow, understandable, but essentially any heirloom you unlock on your account is stored in a collection. You simply go to your collections tab, click on an heirloom you want to "pull out" of your collection (infinite uses) and it's now in your inventory. You can't vendor it, you can't disenchant it, you can't trade it. If you want it out of your bags after you don't need it you simply delete it, which is fine because you can infinitely "copy" them from your collection.

I'd be dumbfounded if Anet isn't going to do a similar system with the Legendary Armory. It used to be that you either had to purchase an heirloom again to have multiples or mail it to your other characters. (Yes in wow you can mail things to your other characters because there's no shared bank..).

Heirlooms and that's my assumption. Honestly it's the only thing that really makes sense to me... but hey... crazier things have happened and it could be as dumb as the void storage.

From what we've heard so far, that's highly unlikely. It will far more likely be working similar to how you link a gear from one loadout into another - except in this case you will be able to link a gear piece not from loadout tab, but from armory. So, there will not be any "physical copies" - separate items to handle. It will be the same item visible in more than one gear tab.

(notice, that they specifically mentioned that legendary armory will be an extension to the gear "template" system, so it would be weird if it would not work the same way)

I’ve seen a lot of reddit post that say similar things, but those are all fan made and speculation. Some dating back over 150 days ago.

You will need 6 runes and 8 sigils in total. You will be able to use these set on every character. I would more bother about the upcoming 26 infusions 😬

Remember, that the initial announcement about legendary armory was the most concrete information we've heard so far. Since then, the only new thing we've been told was that it will be "free". And that initial information was well over 150 days ago.

And yes, it is speculation. The difference is that this speculation is based on that initial news, while yours is not.

You cant use 4 sigils on both land and underwater weapons?

It is not like you can use both at the same time.

Not really, if I'm being honest. XD When I first started making them Build/Equipment Templates weren't out yet, and even once they arrived, it was too much hassle to have to fine-tune each and every build with swapping out trinkets between characters (let alone all of the upgrades and infusions on them), so I still wound up using multiple gear sets on characters. The Armory could finally overcome the last QoL hurdles for me, depending on how ANet decides to handle skins/upgrades/infusions across multiple characters.
