My Charr said "awh"..

Really now Anet? My charr is a male warrior. Killed 3 elder dragons (where i am in the story) and a God. Yet he says "awh" in his dialog?? Come on now...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not that bothered about it, but it just doesn't fit my character AT ALL. It was really surprising to me.

I remember when the story was suppose to branch based off your selections during character creation. I don't expect that, but this is just too much lol

Awh is a a soft word that shouldn't be in the charr's vocabulary

So charr are not allowed to be something more than tough angry cats? The worst thing about creating a race in fantasy world is making it's people completly emotionless. How boring it would be to have only tough guys, that can't say a nice thing.

How boring it is to make your own character that's actually what the writer wants them to be rather than what you want them to be.

Anyway, maybe you are moved by all the pathetic sob stories in games, but i feel nothing.

Someone said, a soft word shouldn't be in a charr's vocabulary; not just for a particular character... for whole race. Creating an individual character isn't bad, but they're like music — you can play only on white keys and you will get something, but you need also black keys to create better music. Different musical scales don't sound just higher or lower. In fact... only C-maj and A-min uses white keys.

Just because a writer wants something, doesn't mean it's good. If we're talking about what charr are like — they can actualy love, be nice, sad, cry etc. I think ANet never wanted to make them 100% angry tough guys.

And yes, I love sob stories. I'm a writer and my characters are always dark-themed. Everyone has a sob story. There's probably a solid reason why someone is mad.

You don't need to be an "angry though guy" just 'cause you don't feel empathy for a condescending narcissist.

What's wrong with that exactly? I am male and I say Awww everytime I see a cub. It's very manly to be an adult and have a tender heart for young and cute creatures

Saying awh has nothing to do with empathy or whatnot.

I'm not syaing that if someone says awh they can't manly. I am saying that a CHARR shouldn't be sayin awh. Charr are not human. Go look into the Charr lore and show we a place where they are soft. Love and empathy does not make someone soft. It shows they have emotions. On the other hand, a race of massive cats who are a warring race saying awh just doesn't fit.

The charr are a warrior race. Best humans to compare to charr would be Spartans. Go look at spartan history and then tell me if they would be saying awh or not.

People are to stuck in the present day politics. "Men can be super soft too!". If you guys want to believe that, thats totally fine but don't assume thats how men were along all of history. Also, using the word awh now is a bit different, its become very common in the western vocabulary. We live in the most soft and peaceful countries. Don't compare ourselves to what a Charr would be like/say.

This is a fantasy game, which should be taking place in times where being PC doesn't apply.

Think of Charrs as metalheads, they smash guitars, they brawl into mosh pits, they bang their heads, they listen to heavy metal and some of the most brutal songs out there but when they see a little kitten they show their soft side and say: "Awh, look at that dear little thing, that is so cute" 😄

Not only the Charr, but characters of all the races seem to have devolved to cw network level. They all changed into modern day teen soap humans . With emotional soap drama interactions. And there are people who are fine with that? The standards seem to have dropped over time. From characterfull stories and characters (also counting gw 1 with this) to oversensitive, emotional unstable immature characters. Not my cup of tea. I hope EOD gets new characters and story who are more mature written (like for example the Castlevania animation, or at least at the level of Avatar with deeper and enough fleshed out characters if age rating is a thing).

Its things like all of this that make me suspect that "The Commander" from Anet's perspective and storytelling, has always been a human and that the other races are just along for the ride regardless of personality.

As a charr playing Icebrood saga, I can, without shadow of doubt, say that youre right. Literally feels like I'm a outsider. Theres small mentions here and there about me being a charr but outside of that it feels like I don't have any say in charr politics. Being the commander/dragon/god slayer who is a charr, I should be running the show.
