Issue with Launcher ("Connection error(s) detected.... Retrying")

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone.

When I open the gw2 launcher I get this "Connection error(s) detected... Retrying" message (my connection is fine) and it seems like something is blocking the game.

I followed this website's instructions (https://appuals.com/connection-error-detected-in-guild-wars-2/#:~:text=As it turns out%2C the,re network configuration currently uses.&text=Restart your computer%2C then attempt, the problem is now fixed. ), tried every possible solution and the issue still remains...

Is anyone else having the same problem?

Thank you.

How did you fix it?

Meanwhile I was able to fix the issue 🙂 Let me know if you still need help fixing it.

I did not fix it. I was not network admin at that location, so I just could not change network configuration to play there.

I can play just fine at home.

It means GW2 can't connect to the patch server (http://assetcdn.101.arenanetworks.com/latest64/101). If you've already tried flushing or changing your DNS provider, something is either blocking GW2, or there's a problem with your local server. To manually select a different server:

This is the kind of issue that I had to deal with 2 times already...
WTF is happening with the hosts and why does I need to set this AGAIN?

I did even add permission to my 'user' when I do not need to do this.
(just to be safe)

Imagine if every patch I need to deal with 'tracert' and 'hosts' to update the game?!

FINAL SOLUTION: (until another change)
add those lines to your windows/system32/drivers/hosts
(do not forget to make the file readable)

3.210.229.193
52.202.130.147
34.206.165.16

Keep in mind that you may need to run nslookup and or tracert at every patch.

Open cmd with administrative permission and run:
nslookup origincdn.101.arenanetworks.com 8.8.8.8

If you've edited the hosts file and didn't remove it later, you'll eventually encounter this connection error problem when the IP changes. Only edit the hosts file when there's a problem, and remove it after - if you were stuck patching for example, remove it after you've finished patching.

I've developed this same issue this morning. I've never previously had to do anything to get the game to work.

I've tried almost everything in the links above:

Edited the host file

Flushed DNS

Expressly opened the ports on router

Ensured uPnP is enabled

Whitelisted the game

Deleted the Roaming folder

Unchecked the QoS packet scheduler and added the additional line to the shortcut recommended in one of the links.

Am about to try deleting and reinstalling, see if that helps.

My bad, and thank you for the information.
