WvW Week

It really brought some live into WvW. Had some awesome zerg fights (even 3-way-fights!) this week.

Adding in that I almost doubled my WvW rank in the span of one week, and this bonus exp event was a complete success in my book.

Except for queues and server lag...

Extra hated the event for that.

If WvW was baseline more rewarding we wouldn't be waiting for this kind of events.

I guess that's true, not much fun waiting long times for rewars, especially if you are a pve player. Maybe anet will do something to make WvW more engaging.

I mainly play to roam (my greatest enjoyment in the game comes from roaming and cloud fighting) and to do guild raids.

Only reward I'm after in WvW is skirmish tickets for my legendary. And once I craft that I won't need anything else in here. Just like my high level guildies having stacked thousands of tickets, having attained everything they could from the game mode and play for the fun of it.

I'll reach that point. But the process to getting there is far from rewarding and friendly. It requires you to do some serious pip grinding (I don't have much issues with it, but reaching diamond chests every week to get all my rewards, with only 1 box of warlord armor being given to me each weak to help me get better gear and stats limits the newer player a lot!).

In WvW you must change stats for each occasion if you want to engage and so far I'd say the rewards for WvW do not help you with staying engaged and not having issues with grinding legendary armor.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to overreact here, but comparing the time someone needs to invest in wvw, fighting outnumbered most of the times (guildies won't be always be in the mood for parties, assuming you are in a guild), having to capture objectives solo (usually restricted to camps and sentries for solo new players) is a punch to the gut.

PvP seasons are either too rewarding, or WvW needs better rewards. Why do we still get mark shards instead of full marks? You need like 2 weeks for a full mark, in pvp you get like 3 (?) as long as you complete the season chests.

Whatever, rant over, WvW is not a good money maker and everyone knows that. Pointless boosting events won't help in the slightest anet.

Careful, wanting better rewards will make all the WvW elitists eat you alive and call you a pvenoob. 😉

Don't listen to them though, they're jaded. Yes, making WvW more engaging would be really nice, and a bit more time friendly skirmish ticket acquisition - even an active one where you trade your kill emblems for tickets - would promote more fun WvW environment. I just hope Anet continues this WvW attention streak and that we eventually end up with a better more rewarding WvW for everyone.

I had a seriously blast last week and saw more community involvement in servers coming together than I have in ages.

Folks automatically talk about queues. They’ll also complain about not having people to fight against. It’s not super fun to have to wait for what is essentially open world PVP. Yet I’d rather have opponents to fight. 🙂

Yes, I've long suggested the replacement of grandmaster mark shards with the grandmaster mark boxes themselves.

PvP seasons should have had diminishing gold after Byzantium chests if they're not going to crack down on people playing thousands of games a season. Most people that aren't using it as a gold farm are there for wins (amulet/back, achievements for classes or maps) or ascended shards of glory.

I've been saying this for years, even way back in the old forums, not the previous old ones, but the old old ones. We had nada after Seasons, and recent wxp and no downstates are few and far between. Idk. It seems like a waste of time to even have a WvW forum when we're just basically talking to each other and nothing ever changes.
