05/25/2021—May 25 Release Notes - what about Defense, Arms?

Not that we were really expecting anything. But I am sad that especially for WvW warriors, the defense traitline still remains with two dead traits (the two stance-passives with their 300s cooldown are just way underperforming), while at the same time, warrior still has little to no alternatives regarding access to defensive boons. I think that is something that was not considered by the February 2020 nerf.

Also the Arms traitline could really need some love. It would be highly useful, due to the ability to delivery unblockable attacks. Sadly that's about all that can be said about it at this moment. It has too little useful things to offer apart from the unblockable trait, especially compared to other traitlines:
When you go for damage-heavy builds, Berserker combines nicely with the Strength Traitline and Discipline. For Control-heavy builds, tactics with the insanely useful leg specialist in this case combines wonderfully with strength due to brave stride, body blows and the hammer trait. Thanks to the low damage when going for use of hammer as one of your weapons, striving for damage is a rather pointless venture anyway.

But maybe me, and all the other spellbreakers and zerkers I talk to are missing some synergy ...

It's also easy to understand how this is not a problem in PvE. Here the stances as passive traits work perfectly fine, with reasonable cooldowns, giving the warrior access to very good defensive capabilities, as are necessary for an enduring frontline warrior.

The competitive split makes this impossible ONLY in the competitive modes, and it's more of an issue in WvW, though we see some effects in PvP to, with the complaints of struggling against condi-heavy professions.

So I fully understand, that we can't just give warriors access to defensive boons, as this would cause problems in PvE, but this highly illustrate how problematic the idea of these competitive splits are. It would be much better if we could have a big redesign that works in PvE and WvW (and PvP, too).

Its totally possible to rework Defense in a way that works in all game modes. Anet just needs to realize that high base stats are not a justification for the dirth of defensive boons in the core warrior kit.

Im happy that we were not part of the patch...

We would probably see overtuned Spellbreakers get nerfs or Anet saying "We see Berserker's power being a bit too essential in DPS roles with a huge modifier in power dmg, so we have scaled down the percentage of dmg and the time for which the dmg modifier stays active"

🤣😭

What on earth, right? PvE, yes, anything else? Not so much. I liked your idea of maybe reworking a couple Defense traits (perhaps the 300s Stance traits) to activate upon stun break. Perhaps condi clear, Resolution and Protection, or some other defensively oriented effect.

"we're eagerly watching as the community theorycrafts new builds and tries them in content"

Ye, I guess warrior players would love to do that in PvE, IF WARRIOR GOT CHANGES THAT WOULD ACTUALLY HAD BIGGER IMPACT ON THE CLASS/SPEC/BUILD... oh wait, I forgot! Axe warrior now takes 1 different trait to gain small % damage increase, depending on situation. Oh wow, what a unique new build! /s

What about some more significant change that would be more impactful, for example making some other Primal Burst not having cooldown, like Decapitate? Something more gamechanging rather than just 5-10% damage increases/decreases...

What happened with bolder changes like e.g. Break Enchantment change on July 7th 2020?

300 sec CD traits rework when... ?

New rifle skill hype didn't last long... will this skill ever get proper aoe effect?

wait, you still expecting that when it is demanded for almost 10 years? it took them 6 years to squeeze out decapitate from their kitten hole. and off hand sword has been garbage for the entirety of gw2, yet 0 hope for new skill design.

same goes for axe off hand, it took them 6 years of buffing non stop with no shave, to finally become meta only in PvE.

6 years of buff only! for it to be finally viable. only 6 years.

lucky that off hand axe actually became viable after 6 years of buffing, when off hand sword after 6 years of basically close to no nerf but buff, it's still garbage.

and main hand sword the only skill that matter is flaming flurry, 123 may as well not exist.

final thrust has been receiving nothing but buff as well for the last 9 years and it's still garbage everywhere.

same goes for hammer, been unplayable after 2013 hambow meta got deleted, and has been receiving buff ever since and still garbage, and killed after 2020 feb remove damage from cc patch.

and if you disregard pve,  mace and axe has been receiving only buff for 9 years and still unplayable to this day in pvp, same to sword.

Hey, I totally changed my build, even in WvW! Martial Cadence is awesome 😄 Well. Maybe not awesome, but pretty helpful. Get more immob in the same time.

have you ever heard of a full Berserker armor, weapon, trinkets Warrior build and equipped with +Precision +Ferocity rune and appropriate sigils that works well when casually joining zergs or commanding and also epicly pwning with small number, even skirmishes?

You know at this point I think we should give up for proper rifle, I don't think warrior will ever get good option for ranged weapon power version. Condi version we got Longbow and I think perform well on zerker.
