[Request] Make the "Return to <story instance>" achievements repeating

Recommended Posts

Specifically referring to the achievements such as "Return to Disturbance in Brisban", "Return to Fallen Hopes", and so forth. The 50 Piles of Silky Sand isn't very much (I'd probably recommend 5 Sandy Bags of Gear for the S2 instance achievements as a better minimum), but it provides a quick and easy way to solve an issue GW2 has had since Season 2 removed loot drops from foes in all story instances.

That problem is: "There is no reason to replay story."

At least on the same character, there isn't. Because story instances provide no drops, and provide no rewards upon completion. If you've done the story, the only purpose to return would be any leftover achievements. The best thing the DRMs did was make replayability in "story instances". And while simply giving rewards for recompleting to the instance itself is fine, these Return to achievements are an excellent and easy method of doing the same thing rather than fiddling with what could be spaghetti code. If nothing else, it gives incentive and reward for players replaying story while joining others on their first go through.

Thoughts?

It would take a lot more than a few bags of unidentified loot to make me want to do these instances again.

If running the new achievements taught me anything,  it's that the story, it's delivery and the pacing of the early s2 missions is objectively poor.

DRMs are built from the ground up to give a focus on what GW2 does well, it's combat. While they occasionally miss the mark, there was very little  in the couple hours I spent rerunning the S2 missions that approached what I would call "fun". I will however, happily run DRMs on CM a couple times a week.

Putting a thin coat of fresh paint on these missions via increased rewards does this game no service.
