[Suggestions]QoL (Quality of Life) Ideas [Merged]

A QoL change I'd like to see is the ability to nickname people not just on the friends & blocklist. The ability to nickname guildies would be SO helpful, because I want to know who these people are but maybe I don't want them on my friendslist for notifications et cetera!

And I'd like to share my support to one that I know has been posted before: categories on the friendslist!

Hello Anet. Can you please seperate on land and underwater ctrl+rightclick for autoattack please? For example, I have something set to autocast on land, but since my underwater skill slots are different, I do not want them to autocast because they conflict. As an example, on my ele I have glyph of lesser elementals to autospawn, but on the same slot underwater I use stone resonance and I don't want that to go off so perhaps underwater autoattacks setting should be seperated just like they are between different weapons.

Also make it remember ctrl+rightclick autoattack settings between different build templates

Hey Anet, would it be possible to add a graphics function to hide other players' infusions and back items? With more and more... lets call them "fancy" back items and infusions added to the game, the game really becomes an eyesore to look at. I really miss the old 2012 look of Guild Wars 2.

If I had the option to hide other players' back items and infusions, that would go a long way to get a bit of that 2012 feel back! Of course, it should be entirely optional. People should feel free to add as much "swag" to their "fashion wars" as they want, but I should also be free to disable that swag on my end on my monitor.

Anyone else feeling this way?

That's what I'm talking about!  I believe that there are many people who share this feeling, I myself am one of them.  As he said, people have the right to personalize their characters the way they want, but I would also like to “hide” some effects that really get in the way

I have a suggestion please, for those of us that do not pvp in a guild, but like to play pvp at times, could you please change the pvp legendary amulet requirement of 20 tournament wins to just competing in a tournament.  I understand making it a challenge and the 120 rank wins I am comfortable with, however unless you are part of a pvp guild and regular runs it is very difficult to achieve the 20 tournament wins for those of us that play pvp infrequently compared to those that pvp mostly in the game.

Make legendary items have level requirement of 1.

If they have a system to adjust your stats down to appropriate level, surely they can do the reverse and have gears that scale with character level.

Especially with legendary armory coming up.

+1 to that, and...

Character Model Quality - Lowest, suppose to disable all cosmetic effects and revert all armor and weapon skins to basic from other players. But it reverts only armor. Infusions, backpack and weapons still shown in full force. It is rather a bug that should be fixed.

Another solution add 'Do not Load ' to 'Character Model Limit' option to fully disable any character models expect your own. This not only will help with 'eyesore' problem, but also will help game to prioritize NPC model load, which is very important in defend\escort events in crowded meta maps.

Yeah, it's especially noticeable on 2H weapons. At least, if I don't like focus spells, I can pick up a torch. With a staff of greatsword, you're stuck with it all.

Even just the ability to move the weapon skills around on the bar would be nice.  All the dodge skills seem to show up in the middle slots; I'd put them last or first, so I don't hit them by accident.

I really love gw2, and almost every aspect of the design, and QoL features in the game. There is one thing that bothered me that was never "fixed", and that is the option to permanently hide personal story.

I have just a mild case of ADHD, and it really gets me. can't imagin a person with a sever case, that have 10+ toons, like me, that have to be forced to play all the story over and over.

Please let us hide it. Maybe provide the option if one of the charecters on the account finished that chapter or something. I don't fully understand the reason behind the persistance of this, but please make it somehow doable, without playing the story over and over and over again.

This has been written with great love and devotion to this game, and to Anet.

Please allow for the removal of tonics from the novelty panel back into inventory, and update the descriptions of certain tonics to reflect their potential uses.

Although the release of the novelty panel in 2018 has been useful and welcome quality of life change to reduce bank and inventory clutter, there are conflicts with some of the existing tonics that I feel have not been properly reconciled.

Most other novelties and several of the endless tonics solely exist for the purpose of transformation, and are more convenient in the novelty panel as intended. For this reason, I feel a player can easily get in the habit of immediately adding a tonic to the novelty panel upon receipt.

However, a few of the endless tonics are key ingredients or currencies for the mystic forge or vendors.

Adding the endless tonic to the wardrobe effectively permanently deletes the item from your inventory, but offers no sufficient warning that the item will be fully irrecoverable.

The novelty panel can conflict with these specific tonics and can cause a lot of undue frustration. Many of the affected tonics were not initially designed with the option to disappear into the novelties panel, and end up being incongruous with the newer function.

Based on the wiki, the affected tonics include:

·         Endless Black Quaggan Tonic (Mystic Forge ingredient)

·         Endless Blue Quaggan Tonic (Mystic Forge ingredient)

·         Endless Green Quaggan Tonic (Mystic Forge ingredient)

·         Endless Pink Quaggan Tonic (Mystic Forge ingredient)

·         Endless Bottle of Batwing Brew (Mystic Forge ingredient)

·         Endless Toy Ventari Tonic (Mystic Forge ingredient)

·         Endless Princess Doll Tonic (Mystic Forge ingredient)

·         Endless Toy Soldier Tonic (Mystic Forge ingredient)

·         Endless Plush Griffon Tonic (Mystic Forge ingredient)

·         Endless Toy Golem Tonic (Mystic Forge ingredient)

·         Endless Fractal Tonic (Currency for Infinite Mist Potions)

·         Endless Anomaly Fragment (Mystic Force ingredient)

·         Enchanted Snowball (Currency for Enchanted Colorful Snowball)

Probably the most frustrating of these is the Endless Fractal Tonic, in which the functionally useless item can actually be exchanged for an extremely useful item. So far, none of the descriptions of the affected tonics give any suggestion that they have other uses than transformation:

Quote

It smells like some sort of furniture polish. Use this item to transform into...something. You'll never know what until you try.

I feel this is an extreme lack of transparency. Compare this to the much more clear description of certain minis that can be used in similar ways:

Quote

Double-click to summon this mini to follow you around. Only one mini may be in use at a time.

Combine 3 of this miniature with a Pile of Crystalline Dust, an Obsidian Shard, and an Amber Quantic Dipole (dropped by creatures in scale 1–20 fractals) in the Mystic Forge to create a Mini Mister Mittens.

After submitting a ticket to support (#8118527) after having this frustrating realization with the Endless Fractal Tonic, I realized that there is no way to retain the item after it is added to the novelty collection, and I find this a little absurd given that Support would still be able to recover the item if I had made the mistake of directly deleting it from my inventory. A previous user faced a similar issue. I feel that intended game functions should not have this affect.

Though the novelty panel is useful for many other tonics, it hurts how several of the existing tonics are intended to be used. The ability to remove the tonics and more appropriate descriptions would help to address some of these pain points.

The ability to turn off notifications when friends log on and off.  Yes, I know it's stupid.  But it's gotten me killed in WvW a couple of times... 😡

You can already do this just make your chat window not display **Game messages**

Just a couple things now.

  • Playable Tengu as an endgame-only race (Cantha storyline onward).
  • Personal story characters as customisable henchmen for some instanced content. Oddly enough, it looks like ESO is about to do a version of this.

Once upon a time I'd have said something about WvW, but nowadays I figure that's a job for a different MMO to do right.

Love OPs idea about alternate weapon skills to slot in... would greatly increase build variety.

* Shared gathering tool slots - would kill off Anets source of income for gathering tools, but I somehow doubt there are many purchasing multiple permanent gathering tools of the same type anyway, so why not just separate those 3 gathering tool slots out to a one-time purchase to unlock (assuming this would be monetized anyway).

* QoL - Visibility checkboxes on all gear slots. Silly that my Charr/Norn/etc. HAS to wear chest/leg armor when I'd like to style it differently... for competitive game modes, it'd show anyway.

* QoL #2 As for trinkets, add the checkbox to allow toggling visibility of trinket effects - it's only the backpack slot that shows/hides backpack anyway, so re-use this checkbox on other trinkets to disable effect of slotted infusions?

* Could we somehow incorporate secondary professions in GW2?

* If GW2 is ever going to add another playable race, EoD/Cantha would be the opportunity and Tengu would be the natural race. Anet could make it work, I'd see through the fingers on "back-porting" Tengu commander into older content too... after all we've just swatted Primordus/Jormag in one breath, are you really concerned about a solitary Tengu commander being jarring to the story? 😉

As for something I do not want Anet to throw away resources on:

I believe there were rumours about henchmen being worked on to be added as a feature, but it's an MMO and already soloable in so many aspects, plus there's already so little content requiring a group (dungeons, fractals, strikes, raids), so please don't make the game even more single-player.

- Overhaul of AP rewards: dye channels for armors and backpieces, glider skin for the backpieces
- Focus on existing content that works instead of pushing out more and more new features that go nowhere

- Aliances for WvW

- Legendary Waterbreather and infusions

- more stat combinations, runes and sigils

Things I think that this game doesn't need at this point: new playable races, new weapon types, new kinds of instanced content for groups, fishing, housing, henchmen, additional tiers of gear, a subscription fee, a marriage system, mounted combat

Also arguably, it might be better to have less focus on living stories/seasons/sagas, if the quality suffers from executive decisions made by the beancounters.
