Regular Shard of Glory > Ascended Shard of Glory conversion

Did a search on this, and couldn't find a thread dedicated to the idea, or even a string of posts within a different topic that discussed this.

 

As the thread title says, I'd appreciate a way to convert regular shards of glory to ascended shards. I already have one full set of sPvP legendary armor from when I actually enjoyed ranked, and about to get my second set in probably a week or so.

 

A conversion method would be pure convenience on my end, and it would get me out of the ranked roster faster so my pleb gold gameplay stops holding other people back. Such a conversion would of course be gold-intensive, as well as costing (possibly) tens of thousands of normal shards for just a few hundred ascended shards.

 

Any thoughts?

Wouldn't make any sense: ascended shards are designed to be a time-gated account bound currency, and what you're suggesting it's giving a method to players to obtain them with gold (TP > shards of glory >ascended shards of glory).

It's only a soft time gate, in a sense - the repeatable Byzantium end chest yields ascended shards, so you can farm it as many times per season as you can stomach. The mini-seasons in between conquest seasons (if I'm remembering correctly) also have a repeatable chest at the end that yields ascended shards, so it's not like you have to wait X seasons to get a set done anyways.

 

That said, a conversion would definitely reduce the overall time needed to get 2400 ascended shards if you already have tens of thousands of regular shards piled up. Even if the current system is not a hard timegate, if you're of the opinion that the pace of acquisition needs to stay low, then you have a point.

Not 100% sure I follow, but I'm guessing you're talking about bots being able to farm ascended pvp armors faster to salvage?

I'd be more concerned with having more ways to get grandmaster marks boxes so you can actually use the ascended shards for ascended gear.

Ah I kinda like this idea - a little bit of a boost, but not overly so. It would have saved me the need to get my last byzantium chest this season (which happened a few nights ago, so I'm done farming ascended shards for the time being).
