Need to make gold to switch server

Recommended Posts

I really, really apologize as I am sure im one of the many people who have asked this.

I am relatively new to the game and need to switch servers once more after initially switching when I moved the first time. I am now stuck on the american servers with horrible ping and I need to switch to the EU servers.

Is there any way for a non hardcore player to make enough gold to buy the gems to switch?

Again, sorry to ask this.

Cheers cheers

Dailies = 2 gold, world bosses (Tequatl = 1 good, Dragonstorm = 2 gold, Triple Trouble = 2 gold).  Plus meta runs like Drizzlewood as mentioned and sell everything.  Silverwastes farm is still alive and well also, especially if you don't have the expansions or living world seasons yet.  Sell all the loot you get.

A month of login rewards includes 20 Mystic Coins and 35 laurels. The Mystic Coins can be sold for about 2g each and the laurels can be used to purchase bags of crafting materials to sell. The most profitable are light crafting bags which cost 1 laurel each and give about 66s in return. So that gives you approximately 63g just for logging in 30 times. (If you miss days the rewards don't reset and you won't miss any, it carries on from where you left off.)

You can also do 3 daily achievements each day to get 2g. Over 30 days that's another 60g for 123g total.

So a month and a half of selling login rewards and doing daily achievements will give you more than enough gold to transfer to a medium population EU server. You can speed that up by doing other things like selling crafting materials you have in your bank already, or gathering additional materials to sell.

You might be able to make it slightly cheaper by looking out for times when the gold to gems exchange rate drops so it's cheaper to buy gems. (In the time I've been writing this post I've seen it go from just over 126g for 400 gems to just over 127g to below 123g and you'll get bigger variations over longer time periods.)

Gold will not solve this problem.

You re unable to swap an account from NA to EU servers.

You will need to either start a fresh account or become an Arenanet partner.

That's not true. Anyone can swap between NA and EU.

You can check for yourself (without transfering or spending gems): go to the login screen and click 'world selection'. In the top right corner of that window is a little drop down box marked Location which will be showing either Europe or America, depending on which you've on at the moment. Click it and you get to choose whether to see American servers only, European servers only or both. Switch to the region you're not in and you'll be able to choose a server to transfer to and it will show you how much it costs. (The prices are the same whether you're transfering within your region or to the other one.)

Having just moved my account from EU to NA, I’d be very surprised if this was true.
