How viable is P/P condi/hybrid?

I have been looking for a ranged weapon for my D/D condi Daredevil or Deadeye for open world and WvW only. I prefer Celestial, Trailblazer or Carrion gear. Viper seems too squishy.

 

P/D is out of the question. It doesn't suit my playstyle: constantly moving in and out of melee range is so annoying ...

 

SB ... aoe dmg seems ok, but single target dmg ... Not sure about it, i need more testing with different stats.

 

What about P/P? I know: double pistols are meant as pure power weapons. Well, i am not so sure about that. With the right Traits P/P might work pretty well as condi/hybrid weapons too: Panic Strike inflicts poison on immobilizing. Bola Shot (Pistol #2) applies immobilizing. Deadly Ambition is another Trait that inflicts poison with Unload (Pistol #3)  + bleeding on AA and we might get some nice condi dmg. So we get three weapon skills: #1, #2 and #3 that apply conditions. Do you think that would work as a condi/hybrid single target ranged weapon?

It can work. I'd say your issue is dealing with mobility. You get a lot of mileage out of P/D in that respect. So you'd want to set up your utilities to give you a little mobility but it's certainly viable in a sense.

 

Try using a M7 build. The might gain is redundant, but M7 also regens initiative so you won't be low on either damage or initiative. a bit glass cannon but should be very useful.
