Pink Ninja Man.4375
I also made a post about this on Reddit if this looks familiar see the link in the TL;DR at the bottom Abilities are a WvW specific trait system that gaining levels in WvW. There are a bunch of abilities that are great but for veteran players it would be nice to see some new ones added from time to time. Maybe some that can bring new life and fun almost mini games into WvW. For an example I suggest a kill streak ability. The first point simply has a new tracking buff that works similar to the old guard buff however this just tracks player kills. You get one stack on a player kill and you lose all stacks on down (or death). This level would just cost 1 WvW level to obtain. This buff should be visible to enemy players. Max stacks would be 100, or maybe more (details on that later). This simple little tracker is basic on it's own but allows for the opportunity for players to have fun trying to get up to the highest or max stacks to kind of flaunt it at their opponents. This also helps for players to identify 'more valuable' loot as there is a system already in place to give better rewards for players that have been alive longer. As with all other WvW abilities the next step is to add more levels to it to make it more exciting. Also some of these levels can be more costly so it's more exclusive to veteran players. The first 3 levels could be interchanged in any order and all work similar. Magic Find for Kills Level 2 would cost maybe 5 to 10 WvW levels and would grant the player bonus magic find on player kills. This magic find is based on the Kill Streak level of the player killed at 1% per level. This means if the player kills another with a streak of 34 kills they would have an additional 34% magic find on that kill. WXP Boost for Kills Level 3 would be almost identical to Level 2 and could even be swapped in order with level 2. The difference would be that it gives bonus WXP (WvW experience) on kills. It might also cost 10 - 20 WvW levels. Gold for Kills Level 3 would again be almost identical to Level 2 and 3 and could be interchanged with them. Instead it would grant gold for kills increase. It might cost 10 - 20 WvW levels. Previous Effects become Persistent Level 4 would cost from 25 - 50 WvW levels and would be the prized level of this reward. This does all of the above 3 effects (MF, WXP, Gold) but applies it to all rewards while in WvW and the % is based on your kill streak. So if you have a kill streak of 62 players, you would be getting 62% bonus Magic Find, WXP, and Gold while playing in WvW. Remember if you die/get downed it resets. This seems like it wouldn't take much to implement and could add some fun for the players and also give them more Abilities to work towards. I also makes the tension of not dying but also wanting to kill others with high stacks a lot greater. I'm sure there are other simple ideas like this that can be implemented relativity easily and can add so much to the mode. There are many WvW Veterans looking for uses for their WvW levels and reason to dive back into WvW again. Let me know your thoughts and thanks for reading. TL;DR: Add a stacking kill streak buff visible to all players that works like the old guard killing buff but grants MF, WXP, Gold instead of stats. Stacks 1 per player lost on Down/Death. XenesisII.1540
Ok idea I guess... but there's a problem I see with this. You're going to count kill streak in this, by which currently that's counted by just tagging players and getting rewards regardless if you did the killing blow or not. So what happens when say I get 100 tag, easily done in zergs in a couple fights, and then 10 people tag me in the next fight, they all get 100% to everything when I die? So first suggestion would be, not a kill streak that counts tags on a player kill, but counts actually killing blows(although aoe'ers will get a lot of credit and support will get screwed tho), or even better, finishers done(where a lot of thieves will probably get the credit tho). Having said that, not sure I would want to make myself more visibly valuable for others. I also see roamers getting a huge benefit of this for just killing any passing by zerger while not participating in zergs themselves, there by actually starving their enemies of extra loot. Just leave the buffs on the banners.....
Dawdler.8521
Basicly someone that has tagged random people while zerging for 15 minutes and not actually killed a single enemy will have a "killstreak" of 100 while someone that has been roaming for an hour and killed 20 people 100-0 in 1v1/1v2s is far behind. Sounds like a fair system. Doing killing blows or finishers isnt much better. Edited June 2, 2021 by Dawdler.8521
Lan Deathrider.5910
It would be better to fashion such abilities after the stat stacking sigils. I.E. each tagged kill grants 5% MF, WXP, Gold gain up to a maximum of 25 stacks. Effects persist for 1 minute unless you have that level 4 ability. Only kills that grant WXP grant a stack. All stacks lost on down of course. This means that a roamer can get the stacks in a meaningful amount of time, while the Zergling doesn't have an unlimited cap (I did not read a cap in the original proposal. There needs to be a cap to this). Might I suggest adding in a reward track boosting ability as well? I like it because it gives a way to gain more loot/gold in WvW that is active and that much extra magic find for actively playing the mode is not unlike the bonus you get for actively playing in Silverwaste.
