Legendary Sigil & Rune Post Armory

Recommended Posts

How are Legendary Sigils and Runes are going to work after the Armory is released.

Is it .....

Option 1: (How it currently works)

You need 6 Runes and 4 Sigil's to equip it on all your armor and weapons.

or

Option 2

You need just 1 Rune and 1 Sigil and it can be applied to each piece of armor and weapon.

Has any information came out about this?

Feels like option 2 would make the price where I believe it should be and not what it currently is but that is just my opinion.

Current estimated cost is 432 gold per Rune and 516 gold per Sigil

Current estimated full set of heavy raid armor is 2,015 gold

Current estimated cost for all Runes and Sigils needed is 4,656 gold

I guess one could argue both Runes and Sigils can be used with any character so that is the reason why its over twice as much. I just have my fingers crossed they go with option 2.

Nobody knows, the details will be shared by anet closer to the release.

My guess is 6+4 and 2 one handed weapons of the same type if you want to use them at the same time on the same weaponset (sw/sw, d/d, axe/axe), but that's nothing more than a guess. Just wait for details.

How should we know?

If something had been mentioned some place else. There has been multiple times new information is not where you would think it should be. I figured since we a little over a month from release that maybe I missed something.

That is why I said, "Has any information came out about this? "

They haven't said anything but why would they implement item duping on purpose? That is what option 2 amounts to. Additionally if runes and sigils work like that then weapons, rings, and accessories should too.

The smart decision for ANet would be to not go with option 2. It would be less work and fewer headaches from complaints. The price argument doesn't really work because legendaries have always been pretty bad. You have to have a weapon equipped on 14-40 slots to breakeven on the cost versus ascended.

Don't forget underwater. It only makes sense for it to be one item for one slot. You want to equip 2 swords? Need 2 legendary swords. Want to equip 7 runes? Need 7 legendary runes. Hopefully the underwater weapons will use the same sigils.

But just my speculation. I haven't made that 7th rune yet, and only one sigil so far. Waiting for materials to trickle in.

Good catch there I totally forgot about the underwater helm and weapons.  Made me even more sad hah! I've been holding off making any runes or sigils until after the update.  I have all armor and Trinkets and a few weapons but want to make the runes and sigils next.

I wouldn't be surprised if they altered how the whole underwater system works gear wise seeing how they are reworking the system as a whole for the armory.

Why would they do option 2?

Because I hope they would have learned from one of their biggest imitators, Destiny 2.

In that game, once you've earned an Exotic weapon (roughly equivalent to GW2's Legendary weapons), you can pull as many copies of that weapon out of your Collections as many times as you like (for a minor fee, and I mean minor, not GW2's definition of the word).

Why is this anything worth learning from?

Because it's more respectful of your players' time, and just nicer in general.

Unlocking every skin and granting every item in the game to the whole player base is also "more respectful of players' time and just nicer in general" and yet, that's not something desirable, so I'll have to repeat the question.

Exotic in destiny are nothing like legendaries in this game. Also the games are fundamentally different in their reward structure

Here is my prediction ... whatever is the LEAST amount of work to deliver the armory is what will dictate how it works. I think it will be easier to NOT restrict how may times a player can remove and equip a legendary item for any single build.

This is the same speculation as dw legendaries. If I have 1 lego sword i can copy 2 of it or I would have to make the other sword? If I want to staff mirage can I copy 2 of 1 staff or do I need to have 2 lego staves? No one knows yet so I would rather wait, considering legos are not going anywhere.

The least amount of work (and the method they already said will use) is using the gear template mechanic. Which does limit how many times you can use one item in single gear template tab (which is once - needs two swords, you need to have two swords. not one duplicated twice).
