GW 2 uninstalled overnight?!?

Recommended Posts

This has happened to me twice already first I installed it on c main drive and was playing just fine and then turned off computer went to play and says GW2 exe can not be found, I reinstalled game that night put it on a different drive this time and played for a few hours turned off computer and started it up later that night to play again and boom gone everything no GW folder at all!! Try and reinstall the launcher this time and tells me I don’t have permission to download I don’t know the specific error atm but will update later... anyone know WTF Is going on ??? Super pissed after last night and now won’t even allow me to re download it.  I have 2 step authorization on so not hacked.....

and upon searching shows this is a known issue but no fix ....

Check your antivirus program's quarantine list. Avast just decided that GW2 was malware out of the blue last week for me and quarantined it. And, like you, it happened when I logged off for the night. When I first logged back on, it looked like it had been uninstalled.

It was simple enough to fix (add GW2 to the exception list), but was annoying all the same.

It finally let me install it I moved the launcher to the drive I wanted it on and then installed it I have not had a chance to play but will try tonight and see what happens. Fingers crossed.  I deleted any gw.dat and gw.temp extra that I saw and made sure that those files are in the gw2 folder on my e drive.   Kinda dumb that you have to drag the installer to the drive you want it to install on even though you selected e drive but whatever hopefully this works.  Thanks guys I’ll keep you posted

No such thing happened to me with Avast.

You folks need to learn not install your games in the Programs or some Windows folder. Create a separate Games folder (preferably on a separate partition) and you will never run into problems like that.
