ArchonWing.9480
Friend is on new account (free) but not new to the game, and I'd like to find a less boring way to help level their character. Are fractals good xp for uplevels? I can't really tell from the Wiki. Assume that we can 4 person t4s without their help. Other options are welcome. We would like to save the personal story leveling for near the end. Currently am just following with my firebrand and giving quickness/swift/might through hearts and that is boring. Linken.6345
Dungeons give close to a level when you complete each path.
Khisanth.2948
Fractals depends on scale. Highest for a non-lv80 is 19 but 18 should be faster. You can do a run and see what % of a level it gives and the time it takes. Exp from story is based on the story's level so that gets worse and worse as the character's level goes further and further above the story's level. Cyninja.2954
If this is about just getting them to 80, why not craft? If this is about designing an interesting journey, maybe combine some elements as follows (I am going to recommend specific crafts based on current gold cost in maxing them, use fast crafting guides of gw2crafts): 1. craft to level 10-11 (cooking 2.3g) 2. roam around the different starting areas, find vistas, skill points, way points, etc. Should easily get you to 15 or 20 without even doing any heart quests or a large amount of combat (or any at all tbh besides skill points) 3. craft from 20 to 30 (jewel crafting 5.6g) 4. repeat the same process in simply exploring the world again to 40 5. craft from 40 to 50 (artificing 11g) 6. start playing through the personal story while exploring, maybe doing the dungeon story dungeons in-between, should take you to 80 in no time Seems a lot more fun than just power leveling via repeat content, but then again I am unsure what your goal is or what your friend might enjoy. Good luck. Edited June 4, 2021 by Cyninja.2954
Ayrilana.1396
My guess is that the XP would come from the writs which drop from the chests. Assuming that the writs don't scale then I guess it would be a potential alternative although I wouldn't recommend it.
HnRkLnXqZ.1870
We used to level players in there, but that is ages ago. Player stats do scale up to level 80, similar to WvW. But those stats are capped rather low. You gain experience from kills and from the final chest. In the low Tier 1 fractals this is kind of working, but the higher you climb the more annoying it becomes. Last time we did it was with a level 64 character, first-timer, so they have spent most of their time downed and dead. With proper skill and experience, it can work out. I recommend to ignore the current standard and slay every NPC you find. With an Experience Booster, the EXP can be good. Some fractals have a lot of NPCs inside. Just avoid using the LFG as a whole. Back in our days there was already very little understanding for "helping" a lowlevel player. But nowadays with this tunnel-viewd focus on speed-clears ... better not try it ^^. Especially everything in Tier 1 can be done by 1-3 average players. I remember one fun run with me as a DPS (open world build) one healer and a player far below level 70. We had a lot of fun. It was also quite challenging.. Note: Having a Elementalist with conjure weapons is nice. The weapons have good AoE tagging and deal acceptable damage, even in the hands of a lowlevel. T4? Do not try! Agony 1-shots your friend, like pretty much everything else. Carrying a corpse through the fractals is possible, but quite boring. tl&dr, It does work. No one can stop you. Just avoid the LFG and do not expect miracles. Just give it a try. If you do not enjoy it at all, try something else.

Good luck. Oh, I should have been more specific. Friend is not new to the game at all, this is basically another account as F2P so they can try out another WvW server. So we've all done the leveling thing a ton. I don't think there's an easy way to get all those materials/gold from crafting quickly is there. I would send gold but I believe f2p has limits on what can be sent. 41 minutes ago, HnRkLnXqZ.1870 said: We used to level players in there, but that is ages ago. Oh carrying someone through regular t4 fractals is not a problem; we have enough friends that we wouldn't have to pug. Though to be fair it also depends on the fractal. Firebrands just break the content. xD That brings up the exp booster as well as consumables. (I can drop feasts for more XP), but I always found that exp from kills is not that big. I always found doing hearts when events are active to give a lot of XP as well as just running straight ahead and discovering random POIs, etc. I don't really mind doing the maps either (incidentally I got hearts done today because I only have 100% map compleition on 1 character lol. My main is only 66% but I'm not against getting another pair of GoEs.) but was just curious about power leveling methods. In this case remember you could send materials too. Alternative for right now: speed run fractal rank 23. Yields around 20-30 gold with a semi competent group (around 10 clears on average without optimizing) and the materials/gold could be used to buy materials for leveling crafting. The fractal rush week just adds a bit on top.

Upon reading more about it, it seems F2p accounts can receive mats but just not send them. I suppose this will work if we use gw2crafts "lazy" method. I'll have to see if they're willing to do it as the gold's not a problem but sometimes people just don't like crafting. And yes, fractal week was definitely why I thought of this to begin with and the gold could be good. I've fractaled like twice this whole year due to not playing the game as much, but I sometimes do miss the gold. Edit: F2p can't enter LA until 35, so I guess they can't do it til then?
