Aodlop.1907
Things like Death perception and Signet of intelligence already grant high crit chances. Might as well stack raw Power & ferocity, and benefit from a huge HP boost as well - which translates in more Shroud HP. That's my reasoning at least. I'm curious to hear your thoughts. foste.3098
The reason is about 45% crit chance that you always have. Sigil of intelligence is not good on multi hit skills of which necromancers power weapons have allot of, and death perception only works in shroud which you can say has a 50% uptime. You might also point out decimate defenses as your precision substitute but then your damage will be turned off by condition cleanses which is not good. Best way to see the difference is you play 5 games with valkyrie & intelligence, and 5 games with marauder/berserker/demolisher then take note of the total damage dealt at the end screen for all 10 games; valkyrie will have much lower numbers. Yeah but that's where all the damage really comes from in the first place, with Shroud 1 and 4 being the main hard hitting abilities of the spec. The off-shroud time is just spent rotating defensives and building life forc, to then unleash hell once you go back in Shroud whenever available. 1 hour ago, foste.3098 said: You might also point out decimate defenses as your precision substitute but then your damage will be turned off by condition cleanses which is not good. Heh. I'd argue you re-apply permanent vulnerability faster than most specs will ever cleanse. But to be honest, I've never tried Decimate defenses. Most builds recommend Soul eater, and I didn't really question it since the sustain part of it appealing. Do you think it's worth taking in PvP? JusticeRetroHunter.7684
Both you and Foste provide an amazing analysis are each are spot on. For me personally, I have a burst sequence outside of shroud, and so I prefer to have the critical damage at all times, to keep pressure on the enemy, which also translates into effective health...the less the enemy attacks me, the more health I have over time, and so offensive pressure damage in a way can be thought of as additional health. This is kind of the Bruce Lee way of thinking, where a good aufensive, can be a good defense. But Aodlop your analysis is really good and I've tried things of that nature before, and they do work as you describe. You simply hedge what you expect to do based on your playstyle. Rather then the Bruce Lee style, you can simply equip defensive off-shroud abilities, which also gives you effective health (by simply avoiding damage) so that gives you the time to go into shroud that's where you do your damage. You just lose out on the opportunity to provide counter damage out of shroud, that's all. Just some additional information I'd like to throw out there, because i did some quick research on this kind of thing, and the condition "Weakness" is the strongest damage reduction modifier you can get your hands on. It's better then armor, better then any other damage reduction tool...by significant margin. If you want effective health without having to sacrifice much, look at the weakness condition.
