Home Borderland and team names?

Do both linked worlds see the same name of their home borderland or do they see it as their home world's name.

For instance, I'm on Ferguson's Crossing and see my home BL as Ferguson's Crossing Alpine Borderland. We're currently linked with Ehmry Bay. Do they see it as Ehmry Bay Alpine Borderland or Ferguson's Crossing?

Also, do our enemy players see EB players as EB or FC? Right now one our opponent teams is made up of Sea of Sorrows and Kaineng. I only recall seeing SOS players, but I could have missed some Kaineng's.

Not a big deal. Just curious.

This is confusing.

The world name shows up on home borderlands. Also, it shows up on character ID, as in "Ferguson's Crossing Gold General," and such.

Those are what I'm asking about.

Yes and someone on Emhry Bay with the same rank would still be "Ferguson's Crossing Gold General" to the enemy. Not sure whats confusing. The link names only show in the WvW menu

I'm an Ehmry Bay player and can confirm that I see it as FC Alpine Borderland - and people on opposing servers see me as an FC/green player.

I didn't really think about it until a fight yesterday when my zerg clashed with an SoS one that had my clanmates in it....they asked who the clanmate was that was in FC. I was so confused until I figured out they were talking about me - but it makes sense as FC is the "host" server right now.

Until you are bandwagonned to full and become a host in the next linking

I couldn't imagine that happening to Ebay, we've always been one of the smallest servers on NA. Our larger guild has maybe ten active players at any time. Thats why we almost always end up linked with T1-T2 servers with the highest populations.

So we're doomed to be a pass-around link forever.

Yeah…. Eradon Terrace kind of went through the same thing..  It just depends on your host to be honest.  If you get the ‘right’ link,  poof.

The hard part is if it’s enough and you DO become a host, it gets ugly for 13 weeks..

So, you're saying that there's a "main server," in my case Ferguson's Crossing, and a linked server in this case Ehmry Bay? And everything is named after the "main server?"

That would answer my question if that's the case.

that is that case, yeah. and the name displayed is always that of the "host" ... while its just a name. servers have barely a real identity these days. the servers could be also name  AB / BC / DB / AC etc... there is no deeper meaning or sense behind this.

i would not use the term "main server"... usually it's always one server doing the ppt, and the other carrying their fights. sometimes the link even has a very high activity and carries the ppt as well.. arborstone in EU is kinda server. has a ton of guilds and activity and actively carries both ppt and fights for its host.

it is not odd if the scheme is confusing... because the concept of  "links" doesn't make sense anyways. provides mostly bad matchups. people complain about it since years now.
