Game crashes at startup

Hi,

 

I haven't played GW2 in a year or so and upon returning when I boot up the game I get to character loading screen then it crashes. Below is the crash log, appreciate any help in advance. Thanks.

I've just fixed the error for anyone getting this I had to download d3d9.dll  and replace in your GW2 bin64 folder. Hope this helps.

I seem to be having a similar issue.  As soon as the game launches, the 2D assets will load and then the game immediately crashes.

That is Arcdps d3d9.dll you download separately and put in the bin64 folder.

 

Do you have reshade or the directx 12 wrapper installed that might cause the game to crash??

 

if not I would suggest do a repair of the client and see if that helps

Do you have reshade or the directx 12 wrapper installed that might cause the game to crash??

 

if not I would suggest do a repair of the client and see if that helps

I'm not using any add-ons, so that isn't what's causing it.  The game is a fresh install as well.

However, I did somehow manage to fix it using the repair option.  I say "somehow" because the repair option fails about 15% of the way in every single time, but upon launching the game just to check, it loaded properly multiple times and I was finally able to play.

Still not sure what caused the issue, but at least even a broken repair worked.

(I also deleted the gw2 cache from the internet browser temp folder, but I sincerely doubt that had anything to do with it.)
