Buying an account for a friend question

Just wondering if I buy an account for a friend can I just send him the account key code and does he access to any of my personal info?

I believe you'd need to use your friend's email address to buy the account in the first place because of the verify process. Could be wrong, it's been a while since i bought my account and they might have changed some stuff in the meantime.

 

You'd also have to register it to your friend's name and address and stuff so i don't know how your friend would get your personal information if you don't use any during registering.

I've bought accounts and expansions for others several times through the years.  It really is just giving them the unused code to apply to their own account.  No registering needed, no personal info, just the code.

 

I always hover nervously and make sure the person is using the code immediately after I give it to them, then have them verify it worked, so it's not floating around out there.  It's been fine every time.

The official site doesn't make it clear whether this is possible or not.

 

You have to create an account or log in before putting in any payment details, which makes it seem like you can only buy a copy for the account you're logged into. But I just checked the email from when I bought PoF and that includes instructions for redeeming the code, so it looks like it wasn't applied automatically, and the store will let me buy another copy of PoF on an account that already has it, both of which make it seem like it's possible to buy it on your account and then just give the code to someone else to use. (I don't want a second copy of PoF though, so I don't want to keep going and see if it stops me after putting in payment details.)

 

But it definitely wouldn't give your friend access to your details. If anything it would be the other way around: you'd have to create the account and then he would need to change the password to stop you having access.

 

Maybe @Donari.5237 or someone else who has done it can confirm that it's possible to buy it on your account and then pass the code to someone else to use, but if not I think I'd buy it from a reliable 3rd party instead so you know you're going to get a code and your friend will have to create the account and apply the code, rather than have it automatically added to your account.

Why don't you just buy a paysafe credit and give the code to your friend and let him/her do it?

 

Any PayShop should have PaySafe credit.

Safer and easier.

You can buy it for another account.  I have done it and I know a friend bought PoF for her boyfriend that way.

Yes, you can buy Guild Wars 2/Path of Fire for a friend.  You just send him/her the Serial Key.

No information from your account is associated with said Serial Key. 

 

Just make sure to buy it from the site, and not in-game.
