Did not realize how limited solo mastery points are and now grouping is required to progress. but my friends quit. Be nice if there was some way to re-assign mastery points so that at least 1 track could be completed. account wide, so the entire account is screwed. also see that "stuff" is gated behind buy more content. It appears that no agony resistance is required for L123 of fractals. really loathing all the mario brothers* crap. Maybe pvp is better in gw2 then wows, but that is like comparing getting shot with a 45 or a 357....either way sucks. and after wow pvp, zero interest in trying anyone elses. lots of rants, but if content pisses a customer off, sure go play something else, but why have CUSTOMERS pooping all over your game else where? I'm sure a disclaimer in GW2 advertising would not help entice people in. LOTS of EXACT jumping required. REALLY great motor skills also required. ALL the cool stuff is expensive, time gated and gated behind MUST BUY content. Yep, basic game is free, but quality of life features like storage are not. All the "make tons of gold" videos all presume finishing all the must buy content, but at that point....what's the point of 10's of thousands of gold? So i've run out of solo mastery points in the basic game, so doing more of that content to fill up the mastery experience bar is pointless. finished PoF story so grinding hearts etc. SCREAMS boring to level up the remaining mount bars. Leaves BUYING more content to access the gated Ascended crafting materials. and the ramp up in difficulty is INSANE. So perhaps AreaNet could post a link to a Wiki introduction to GW2 in their advertisement. Let prospective players know WHERE they can go to read up and watch videos and get guild (need a group for a lot of content) information, BEFORE committing to a "profession" and diving in. I feel that would make the ENTIRE experience vastly more enjoyable. 3
Lizardguard.2860
Hey there, If you want to, you can add me ingame. I should be around tomorrow towards the evening and maybe i can help you out with some of your problems. Unrelated: Wiki is indeed a valuable source for this game, and while it sucks to have to look at it now and then, its also unrealistic to expect everything to be displayed at a glance. Try using the chat command /wiki "Whatever you want to look for" ingame, maybe this will help you already. For the Mastery points, asking in map chat for help often does the trick, if you cannot handle some bosses on your own. Maybe checking out some dedicated solo PvE builds might help as well. Most jumping puzzles are objectively easy, just a few are either long/hard, so if you have a hard time with one, just move on to the next, or find a freindly mesmer who can help! Regarding Fractals: This might be an unpopular opinion, but don´t worry too much about fractals. If you wanna get into high end pve, i´d rather go to strikes and raids before going to fractals. both are more fun and easier to gear for imo. You can drop ascended stuff or currency to get ascended stuff there, without needing ascended equipment. 1 1
Vayne.8563
Sounds to me like you need to make friends with a mesmer if the jumping stuff is a problem for you. Most of the stuff can be bypassed if that's your major problem. But if you absolutely insist on soloing and that's it, that's on you. Most people assume at some point in an MMO there'll be some group content.
Tokugawa.1268
You can get to Thunderhead peaks without buying the requisite Living World 4 story mission. Just do the DRM for Thunderpeaks and it unlocks it. That's how I ended up there completely on accident, lol

Thank you! 😃 Yeah, the amount of stuff in this game can be overwhelming at times, and some systems aren't explained the best in game. At the very least, the /wiki command should be tutorialized, i think that a lot of players would find it helpful early on.

I feel that would make the ENTIRE experience vastly more enjoyable. Basically you want to rush through the content but at the same time you complain about difficulty ramp up. If you slow down and think for a moment, you might notice how your goals and expectations work against each other. Most of the mastery points are achievable by running solo. For others you can easly join random lfg groups and still get them without a problem. If you don't like grinding, you don't need to, but this is still an mmorpg, at least here you don't have the gear treadmill, so you don't need to be worried about constantly grinding to stay relevant -if that's still not enough, then I don't know what mmorpgs you were playing before that to develop the expectations you're describing here. That "must buy content" (living world seasons, I assume?) is currently becoming temporarily free every week. We're currently on the season 2 episodes 5 and 6 (which you can still get for free for the next... 6 days or so). You've picked a weird time to complain about this one tbh 😛 2
Zereqiel.8249
i did all masteries solo. youtube and tekkit taco are all i needed. the must buy content is getting "re-relased" for free. you just need to log in once very week. that shouldnt be hard. i also abhor.the jumping puzzles. i found a yt vid that skips majority of the jumping parts but it required a skyscale. so i got that and breezed through it all.
Tiamat.8254
I think the only jumping puzzle that really irked me was the one in Gendarren Fields. But managed with a mesmer and necromancer, albeit very slowly. And then the jumping goggles 😱
Mugsie.4903
on part 7 of season 2 now. HATING every bit of it, but a source of mastery points which is the only reason i am still forcing myself thru this garbage. joined a guild, but discord required and i could not get it to work, so quit that guild. discord kept refusing to validate my e-mail and phone number which i have had for almost 2 decades. more garbage. tough to join a dungeon/raid/fractal group when they require voice chat. oh well. most of regular content is fun, but i do hate all the jumping crap. my fingers do not work as well being almost 70.

Just curious... What jumping stuff are you having problems with? What are you trying to accomplish? Also, if you need help, there's a lot of people that would love to help. Just post your region here, is it EU or NA? Cause, you can't play with the "other" region, so post what region you're in so people know they can join you. Also, did you check this out? https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Prototype_Position_Rewinder It saved me a lot of sanity when attempting the jumping puzzles, and i've been able to complete the most difficult ones with it, and i'm not a great jumper either. Another thing i recommend if you're intent on doing jumping puzzles, but it's also a great help in general is TacO. http://www.gw2taco.com/ Also, download and put in Taco folder this (there's a guide on the page on how to do it, it's easy): http://tekkitsworkshop.net/index.php/gw2-taco/download This will overlay markers and routes over your game in the exact 3D adaptive way, so as you play, you can just follow the markers and arrows. It has routes for map completion, festivals, jumping puzzles, collections like Skyscale, Gleam of Sentience, farming routes, you name it. It's amazing! Every jumping puzzle i finished, i finished with this. I'm not sure it works in fractals, but fractals are just repetition, you can learn them in a few tries, or party with someone who already knows what to do. It supposedly works for raids but i don't raid so haven't tried it. It's an amazing tool to help you and i highly recommend it! About discord - did you try contacting Discord help? I know it's probably more trouble than it's worth, but for some (and i say this with the biggest quotes ever) "advanced content" like raids or WvW, it's really helpful to have a voice chat so you can coordinate with your team. And if you plan to do either, most will require a Discord. Though - you can try to find a guild that uses Teamspeak. TS doesn't require you to log in with an email or anything, you can just log in as guest. One of my WvW guidls uses TS exclusively and it's perfecly fine. Also who requires voice chat for fractals lol, they're not rocket science, i completed most of my runs with random people most of which didn't even have enough Agony Resistance... Oh well... Anyway... Which region are you in, post it so that people can help you if you want. There's a lot of helpful people in this game. Also, use TacO, it's amazing!
