What to do when you're playing a warrior and there's a mirage/thief against you ?

But assuming you're playing Str Spbr

 

Vs condi mesmer you need to stagger your attacks and not give tells for arcing slice. Use mending as a way to cleanse more than a heal. Don't use skills into heavy confusion stacks just wait it out. Breaching strike if they sit in chaos storm because they will more than likely have aegis. Same goes got scepter block if they use it. Axe is about landing arcing after they do their sissy whirl at you. Dodge the axe leap. DO NOT EAT TORCH 4 AND 5.

 

Vs power mesmer just don't get GS2'd or GS4'd and you're pretty much Gucci

 

Vs D/P use reckless dodge to clear blind and land a burst skill immediately after. Getting Magebane on them is a big priority. They don't have many stunbreaks after that and are squishy enough to burst down if they mess up. If they're on shortbow watch out for the SB2 explosive arrow Anet neglects to nerf that and it chunks hella hard plus they can spam it too.

 

Vs P/D use SIO after their initial condi spam burst before it gets the chance to really hurt you. Bait their melee range shadowstep by using block and they will blow all their ini. Very few stunbreaks after that. If it's that one P/D build with permablind spam and you know that it is then swap to some form of resistance like FFG or Revenge Counter.

 

Oh and if you're getting 2v1'd just kite bb. Easier said than done I know. That's why bunker side node is meta with prot holo.

Some say, as a warrior you are interested in 1v2 situation if you can kite long enough. That's how you can make advantage for your team... untill they lose 4v3 midfight.

Just in case I'm misreading this, I think OP is saying they want to know the matchup for VS thief  on warrior AND vs Mirage on warrior, not what to do when 2v1ed.

 

I could be wrong but that would make more sense. +1 on anything but scourge/tempest isnt gonna end well.

Thief has the privilege to pick his fights , so in order to kill it you need to catch it out of position or to try to lure him to overextend and waste his CDs. Most of the times when i have to deal with thief i try to use as much as possible "No Port" terrain and force him to come to me instead of chasing him. About mirage i cannot give much of advice, since i have very limited experience against it as warrior. Hope that helps you a bit.

I already struggle with one, if i'm facing both thief AND mirage, I'm just gonna bounce.

the only value a warrior has for a team is to 1v2, which now you can't do, which is why warrior is garbage.

no team fight, no decap, no stealth, no support.

 

also, if you see a power block mirage, you are dead, your only hope is that the mirage is braindead

 

you cant run, because he will just daze your rush, or you cant engage because he will just daze your gap closer, if you cant engage, you cant land burst skill and you cant have tether.

doesnt matter if you just engage with evade frame, he will just daze your burst skill, to make it 15 second cooldown instead of 6

and you are pretty much useless without class mechanic (the only class mechanic that gets completely deleted by power block)

 

and you cant LoS because you have your mobility on 15 seconds cooldown.

and you can't heal because your heals have eternity cast time.

also you are gonna proc tether on clones guaranteed.

 

 

also never fight a thief off point, because you will never kill a non braindead thief off point which will be a waste of time, the only result is either he runs away or you dead.

only fight thief if you are on a point, because then you can waste time with him while you cap the point that's the only advantage you can have against a thief if he's braindead.

because he can just plus some where else and snowball your team easily.

While I agree with the frustration the emotion of this argument conveys, and agree that warrior needs significant help mechanically, it is not a fubar situation if you encounter either of these. There are still some things you can do.

 

For Mirage:

Dodge mirror blade, dodge phantasmal berserkers. cleave clones if the mirage is sword mainhand. Keep an eye out for magic bullet. If you get dazed by mantra of distraction and it becomes known to you that the mirage has power block, heal and stow your heal immediately to bait charges, then move out of line of sight or behind the mirage to heal.  Most mirages  have low mobility so generally you can outrun them, but don't press rush for the reason mentioned above. use GS 3 and bulls charge instead if you have it. Keep moving to keep torment damage to a minimal, do not attack or press buttons when you have more than 3 confusion stacks on you.

 

For Thief:

If Dagger pistol, full counter or arcing slice after dodging to clear blind, as mentioned above. any tether on a thief will remove their defenses and give you a free pull. If arcing slice is up when you proc a pull, its free if they do not stunbreak and evade. abuse no port spots, like boxes and terrain elevation. Do not engage with cc like bulls charge, save it for when a thief uses an evade so you catch them on their landing. If a thief uses Dagger storm, you can land attacks immediately out of it by counting to three and then using your burst or cc. 

 

If you are Spellbreaker, you can fight thief. Spellbreaker is weaker against Mirage. Berserker and Core are bad vs. everything.

I am incredibly surprised a number of people thought warrior could 2v1.

because that's the only way for warrior to get value in PvP since 2012 i suppose, other then the miniscule uptime of support build

What's the point of playing warrior is you have to outplay all that just to survive, not even have a chance to kill ?

 

In that case, you're just a deadweight to your team, not helping at all.

that sums up warrior for 80% of the time in pvp.

"On my mark!" is viable. if you have high precision and normally use FGJ. Its basically FGJ but instead of fury you reveal whatever you targeted. 

 

We know warrior is garbage but at some point whining about it does nothing. You cant go lower than 0 morale. Agree with that sentiment though.
