Legendary Armory silence

Still no info about that part

 

Anet u may want to let us know details before release, so last minute changes may possible? 

 

did u consider fashion wars?

will it cost gems?

rework of functionality?

rework of the UI?

Can we hide trinket effects, or even transmute trinkets and rings?

Revenant built template bugged for an over a year now 

 

if u don't tell us asap there will be no time for corrections before release

How often have they ever done last minute changes to something off the feedback from previews?  
 

My gut reaction for most preview requests is that they are borne more out of impatience than wanting to make actual changes. Anet has very little history of making adjustments prior to releasing something with practically all instances I can think of being in regards to balance updates. It’s much more unlikely for them to change some feature of the legendary armory prior to its release.

I remember only one such case (the change to obtaining commander tags from the old, per-character system, to the current one). And that was only because their original approach got roasted on several mmozines.

 

As you have mentioned, usually when they preview any content, it's way too late to make any changes - and even in the few rare cases when it isn't, they tend to ignore the feedback anyway.

 

Quite a number of earlier preview requests are actually a byproduct of that - people want them to release preview early enough that thy can give feedback and have a sliver of chance of eliminating the bad things that they're afraid of (often with good reason) will come with the feature/content. The shorter the gap between preview and release, the less chance they have of potentially influencing the dev decisions.

They're right to go about it that way. Better to make some changes post-release based on how the entire playerbase receives and adopts a feature than rushing to accommodate a few dozen vocal people beforehand.

Quite often the stuff is way harder to fix once it is released. And it's not like they actually like to fix their past mistakes either.

 

Just look at the template system - even if they were willing to fix it, it's next to impossible due to how monetized it is (and how hard it would be to deal with people that have already paid for it).

If they wanted player feedback on features before release, they'd have a PTR. And depending on the coding involved, it would take longer than a week to change things a minority of players complain about with no hand's on experience.

 

A lot of it is probably set in stone anyway barring a huge backlash to a part of it since Anet doesn't do previews except when something is ready to ship next patch.

You recognize that they haven't fixed this even with more than a year of time to do so and you think they value the ability to make last minute changes (which may break something else) based on feedback which is itself based on a preview of the feature? Very optimistic.

If I recall all the information releases correctly... 

 

1. Items in the legendary armory can be reskinned, however the reskin affects the versions of the item on all character. So you cannot reskin it differently for each character. 

2. It will be free. Twitter 4/30/21

3. Functionality of what? Stat swapping? 

4. UI of what? Hero Panel? 

5. Not armory related. 

 

The wiki has some of the information you asked for, would suggest you search for it.

You recall wrong. That's how it works currently with templates, so a lot of people assume the new armory sustem will work the same, but it was never actually addressed by devs.

Free to access and use. Incidentally, they were speaking similarily about template system before it got launched. And it is indeed free to access and use (but not free to unlock its full functionality).

In a way it is armory related, because it will influence its use. It's basically a part of the general "Armory and the wardrobe" question.

As you see, wiki doesn't really clarify much. the key questions are still either not addressed, or addressed in a way that leaves a lot to interpretation.

Could imagine the legendary armory will be something like: we can store legendarys in an "Legendary Bank" and we have access to it from all characters in the menu. By equiping a piece due the armory a temporarily copy will be created, bound to the character and armor template. We can reskin it how we want, put runes in it, stats. 

 

It wont affect other templates or characters. 

 

That's how I would design it.

People are so impatient. They announce a release date for the legendary armory (which is less than 2 weeks away) and people like "nooooo I want more!!." Have some patience. They already said they will give us more information closer to the release of it.

They announced a release date? When did they do that? And what is the release date?

They did in the "summer" news piece, at the same time they announced when there will be more info about the expansion and the fact that LW episodes will be free in the upcomming weeks (and that there will be new legendaries. And that you will get lege amulet +new precursor of your choice if you finish new meta achievements).

It should work like heirloom gear in WoW. You get a page with all the items you have, you select it and it basically conjures it into your bag. It is its own instance of that piece that can be enchanted, transmogged, gemmed, etc. Etc. For that character specifically.

Nah, it shouldn't because

a) it's not wow

b) there's no reason to conjure additional items in your bag

 

It can just work like it currently works for multiple gear tabs for the same character, so you see an item with a chain icon and are free to pick it for another build, except this one it's not for one character, but across the whole account. And hopefully it will be possible to transmutate it separately between the tabs too 😜

It's not wow? Obviously it's not but it sounds like you're turning away a good design because another game is doing it. Any other system would be too convoluted. It's a good design and works very well. And it wouldn't be in your bags, it would be on your character in your build template. That's the entire point...
