Double Dagger Mesmer = Assassin?

I mean a spear is kinda over reaching, as I recall they stopped making gen 2 legendaries for "underwater."

As far as assassins go, GW1 assassins are patrons to Lyssa so it would make sense.

its not overreaching... If u look at the hilt of the "dagger" its WAAAY longer rthen any other hilt.. and it also has no immediate Sense theres also a tumour looking thing on the otherside of her Arm which we cant identify currently. but i'd agree its very unlikely.

to the OP.. i think thief will get assassin. and if its Dagger its 1 dagger not 2. I think mesmers will get hexs. in some shape or form.

i dont see why it couldnt be 2 daggers considering mesmers lack a whole new weapon set of skills, from the past we had shield which was offhand and an axe which was mainhand. Honestly its due for a whole new weapon skill set. Spellbreakers had 2 daggers as a whole new skill set so its not over reaching that mesmers will have double daggers.

Spellbreaker got 2 weapons because warrior as a "weapons master" is lore wise considered to have to wield every dual wield able weapon it can wield in both hands.

Mesmers don't share that fantasy nor does any other class. Hence why they won't get the same thing.

I don't think it's comparable realistically.

Sadly your just reliesing why people are hoping it's spear.

What it could be. (Now this is reaching far)

Ur mainhand Dagger. It's new mechanic is illusionary weapons.. instead of shatters you get illusion weapons on F1-4.

You summon your offhand weapon.

Now it won't happen. Because I doubt gw2 engine could make this work. But it'd be a cool idea.

So itd work almost like elementalist attunements but instead of elements it'd be illusionary weapon types. But only for Ur 3 4 and 5 effectively.

Save this comment and come back on 27th

It's not even close to long enough to be a spear. If she was holding a spear that close to the blade, you would easily see it poking out behind her back. Like, it would not be subtle at all and insanely obvious.

In GW lore Assassin is a medium class profession and separate profession to Mesmer. So I don’t think so, Eles and Necros can also fight with two daggers but there is nothing assassin-y about it

If anyone gets an assassin spec that would be thief imho

Both Assassin and Mesmers were worshippers of Lyssa in GW1, so it's a decent possibility that Assassin could become Mesmer's new elite specialization.

And given that "armour classes" technically didn't exist in GW1 since all professions had unique armours and the defense values were nothing more than a lesser part of the balance, it wouldn't be weird for them to switch to light armour.

That aside, Outfits made sure "armour classes" don't mean anything anymore anyway.

Yet the armor class was more important there

Wouldn't that be too close to Mirage? That was already a thief-style mesmer with the deception utility skills, and ambush skills being tweaked stealth-attacks.

Flying swords are a common trope in xianxia, so I think they'll go in another direction and the daggers will be more for mid-range pew-pewing, like WildStar's Esper class.

Whilst it could make sense indeed I just don’t see GW1 assassins switching to summoning illusions and being Mesmers essentially. Because at the end, specialisation is just a cherry on top of the core

Wasn't Mirage supposed to be the "thief-equse" elite spec? Getting deception skills, mobility, and the unique additions to evasion?

Would be funny if mesmer cucked thief in this way.

by the by an Assassin would be infinitely cooler. I don't get why so many of the suggestions for new elite specs are so inclined towards things like support specs and bards; when so much support (including tanking) is offered from Chrono.

Tbh bard is a common screech for in every game. It seems to be one of those classes everyone wants. But given the nature of gw2 there's no new classes.

People are looking at ways to ask for it 🤣

I don't think we will get dual daggers tbh either tho I think that's just gonna be mainhand Dagger. It could prove me wrong. But I just ain't believing it as of current.

Mesmer back in the creation of core gw2 was susposed to have dagger and then necro was susposed to have Greatsword.

So they did create something for daggers early on... So we will wait and see I guess 27th will tell us.

Honestly probably a double-ended dagger skin.  There are already a few in the game.

I don't think they'll do spear, since that was the point of the Spellbreaker originally.  They literally just use the spear heads as daggers lol.

Probably will be called the ninja.  The daggers above look to be Kunai-inspired.

Likely some unique shatter skills featuring ammo-system throwing of summoned kunai, a shadowstep, and predominately high mobility.

I mean it totally makes sense if you think about it...

An assassin uses deception to get away with murder.

Hitman games your objective is to blend in and kill.

Cantha is going to have lots of politics...

Mesmer Daggers = Assassin...

Your thoughts?

My thoughts are: yes 100%. That's all I was hoping for. ( My Mesmer is Ash Legion and it would fit well )
