Hobothesis.6420
For general running around in open world farming mats, doing these new 'return to' achievements (and older ones I missed out on since I just got back) what is generally better between reaper and scourge? I have no plans to pvp or raid right now. To me it seems like it would be scourge after this recent condi buff as you have the barriers and a reaper cannot heal in shroud. Also, how would these be comparitively to a staff mirage(or mirage in general) for what I want to do? Dadnir.5038
The one build you're the most at ease with will be the ideal one. Both Scourge and Reaper can breeze through the living world story. As for farming mats (ore/wood/plants), from experience, the optimal course is to have many characters built for movement speed doing short run of known gathering points (Joining a zerg and recycling heavily what you loot help as well for farming mats. Thought, plants will be replaced by leather if you do that). Edited July 24, 2021 by Dadnir.5038
Asum.4960
Everything, if build reasonably, will blow through >90% of OW with barely having to play these days, so I'd agree with Dadnir on just play what appeals to you most, otherwise it doesn't really matter. The most notable difference between the two I'd say is that for general gameplay in OW, Reaper (Berserker/Marauder/Diviner) is both faster and easier due to Strike Damage and literally just needing to Shroud Auto Attack and maybe Soul Spiral, if you feel like it, to nuke everything you come across as well has having at least a single low CD and non-clunky movement skill with Death's Charge, while Scourge (Viper/Trailblazer), being Condition Damage focused, is a lot slower, a bit more complicated, but can be a lot more durable, especially if combining Trailblazer gear with Runes of Tormenting - becoming one of the best solo specs for more challenging content (soloing High Tier Fractals and the like) where it shines with both higher sustained damage as well as much greater self sustain, but it's well overkill, and as mentioned slower, for OW. You are basically picking ease of play and speed/efficiency (Reaper) vs. high end potential at the cost of general speed/efficiency (Scourge). Mirage is very similar to Scourge in that regard. For your described purposes, personal preference notwithstanding, Reaper would be the better choice.
Hobothesis.6420
kk thanks all. I'll go with reaper starting off as it's less than 1g per piece (exotic) going zerker compared to viper's/trailblazer that I can grab later on for the scourge. Konrad Curze.5130
For basic OW like doing hearts, story or killing fodder/vets reaper will be slightly faster For more advanced OW, like soloing champion/legendary mobs or metas, scourge is billions of miles ahead of reaper Scourge is the ultimate faceroll class of the game, minimal effort for maximum reward. Reaper is minimal effort for mediocre reward Edited July 28, 2021 by Konrad Curze.5130
