Oh no symbols on guard are too much aoe for pvp lets make FB useless from now on.

 

Also anet:

 Heres a fun mechaninc for pvp Shrouds, unblockable marks and fear spam. Aww look at the forum they seem to enjoy it.

I find it quite funny that you mentioned all the mechanics that are not like symbols and are usually one time use that goes pop, but missed the shades that linger like symbols and can also move. If you did say shades since they are comparable you would have had leg to stand on.

Well I find funny how you skip the part that they are all big aoe circles which is why symbols got nerf in the first place.

So any circle AoE circle is the same to you it doesn't matter if it is one time cast or lingering. Symbols got nerfed cause they were lingering big AoE circles, long time AOE denial.

You can compare marks to traps, which also are unblockable without traits mind you, but marks are visible, some traps are still lingering throwaway AoE, the closest relative to marks is probably some preparations on thief. 

You can compare shades to symbols, cause they work kind of the same, but marks and symbols do not work the same. 

You can compare Wells to symbols, but those got nerfed too so idk.

If you think the marks are better mech why not ask to make symbols work like marks?

Im saying that the reason FB got nerf was because of "AOEs were unhealty to the game" yet necro shrouds, marks and fear spam are ok?. 

 

Even if they work diffrently they still huge area denying aoe circles.

No, ANet said one specific mechanic called "240 radius symbols" is unhealthy for a game mode like conquest.

180 radius symbols are fine to them.

A kitten, ok lets start, marks are one time thing, you can dodge over it and it goes pop and stops existing and the necro doesn't get the LF, if you stun a core necro or reaper their AoE skill stops being cast, if you stun a scourge with shades or guard with symbols, the skills do not stop existing, they linger on and deny the Area. Lingering AoEs that do not have counter play are bad for the game. Symbols promoted passive play, the guard stays in its kitten puddle and it is fully up to the opponent how to contest it, should you stay on point and tank the damage or leave it, reworking the trait made it so people could have a little space where they could stay on point.

You see the difference is nerf priority. It goes something like this.

 

Highest Nerf Priority

Warrior

Ele

Mes

Thief

Guard

Rev

Engi

Ranger

Mounts

Pve Farms

WvW Siege Damage

New EoD elite specs

Log in Rewards

Rezzing traits

3rd - 4th place ToL rewards

Necro

Lowest Nerf Priority

 

As you can see, necro likely wont be nerfed for another few years.

Atleast we agree on shrouds.

 

Its true if you dodge a mark its gone, but!! There no way to counter a mark that being cast on top of you from safe distance unlike symbols and traps (minus the staff one tho staff wasnt used on the symbolbrand anyways ). You instantly get hit big an unblockable big circle that also have some really low cooldown (unlike traps and a few symbols)

 

Also if marks are that much worst than symbols why is it that every single necro build ever has to have a staff? Even if its a power base necro!. If you ask me necro staff also need a nerf.

Whoa... Ease up... The whole of your argumentation is about mark being unblockable and mark are only unblockable when traited. Change the trait and you'll get your counter play. (Nobody will ever use staff on necromancer if it's done but that's another topic altogether)

Lets put it this way, Staff on necro is the Shield/Focus defensive utility weapon for necro that is why most necros run it and with the trait on Because LF. Most of the skills are quite kitten https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Staff , those that matter are on big CD. Lets take it as an example guard uses shield Shield of Absorption it pushes away people, Necro uses Reaper's Mark it pushes away people.

Only problem is shield is not run on 90% to 100% of guard builds like Necro staff. You really not see a problem with that?

Yeah, but he keeped compering marks to traps and symbol so that why I made the statement.

 

Tho either necro staff or the trait need to be looked at.

To be fair, you're the first involving both necromancer (mark) and guardian (symbol) in the conversation. It's natural that someone step up and point out that you're comparing apples and oranges. Because, yes, the way you put it feel like a point of comparison.

 

As for necro's staff, it's weak as it is. You'd need to rework of some of it's skills (but not all) so that they are no longer mark in order to satisfy your complain while keeping the trait "active". And there is high probability that doing such a thing would make the staff "stronger" which probably be seen by the average GW2 whiner as: "Gosh! They've buffed necro again!"

 

Same goes for the mark trait, if you replace/change it, you've got either the risk that the staff simply stop being used because it is objectively a weak weapon or the risk that the new trait fulfill an exploitable niche and make necromancers even more unsufferables.

 

Not to forget that in both cases, the dev team need to be involved into balance. And, if they do, I expect them to prioritize the 300s CD traits that are in a true dire need to be fixed over the necromancer's staff.

Im sorry but you cant convice me that a weapon thats used nearly 100% of the time is a weak weapon.

 

It may not deal lots of dmg but its utility alone makes it a must pick on all necros builds. There no other weapon that even comes near that amount of pick rate.

All thiefs use SB in sPvP, does that mean it hasn't been nerfed enough? All warriors use shield, should they nerf shield? All guardians use sword, should ANet nerf sword?

Ill give you thief thats also nearly 100% but atleast its has gotten nerfs/buffs over the years and a lot of deadeyes dont run it.

 

Not so much for war shield and guard sword tho they are strong and have a high pick rate but not almost a 100% over 8 years of the game.

@Dadnir.5038 All warriors playing SB cause of gs and dagger are the least weapons that arent hard nerfed (yea axe also is pretty week since the idk 50%? damage nerf last february to its burst skill).

 

Also its the only skill comb that play with 2 stunbrakes and still have decent damage plus defence

You're only assuming that necromancer have had an almost 100% pick rate of staff over 8 years. Which isn't true.

 

When LF wasn't scarce (pre feb 2020), necromancers where more likely to not take staff than to take it. However, peoples like you came here and complained that there was a need to nerf the amount of LF the necromancer got from some other sources after the feb 2020 patch (which was, imo, the worst solution to nerf the sustain tied to shroud and shades). Thus the staff became popular due to the mark trait and the thirst for LF.

 

Likely, if ANet were to nerf staff/mark trait interaction today, tomorrow all necromancers would play Axe/focus.

I was just picking warrior and shield as an example to show how ridiculous it is to nerf something based on the perceived use in a gamemode. It's natural to take the only decent weapon to defend yourself in an environment where you're likely to need to defend yourself. And it's especially true when complains led ANet to put 300s CD on some defensive trait and the profession have basically a single defensive utility to help tank a burst.

There are ways to make firebrand work- try this comp(tested it, it’s not bad except against 3 scourge teams).

 

1 minion scourge(has to be minion becuz of altruistic healing)

couod change the build some for conquest but this works in 3s

add 1 dps- could be a dps necro, trap ranger, trap dh an engi or a rev, could be another scourge but that’s not fun for sure

 

this actually works very well as it can support with shouts and tomes, plus u get giga personal sustain from the massive amount of boons+ altruistic healing.

 

consecrations are also probably one of the best things on guard rn- giving it great aoe presence and good burning damage when coupled with sage amulet
