Black Lion Skin Legendaries

Why? 16 legendaries with the same effects and skins is very disappointing.  A free precursor isn't a good excuse imo. Precursors for current gens are a tiny fraction to the total cost of legendary.  If gen 3 has an overall cheaper total cost than current legendaries then I can see the worth in them.  A way to introduce cheaper legendaries for players unable to put the time investment into legendaries would make sense.

My belief is that they did this because it's cheaper to produce similar themed legendaries rather than unique ones for each weapon type.  Isn't it just the same texture but molded to fit each weapon type?

I don't even collect Legendaries and this announced is probably the one that upset me the most. ANet has some of the best weapon designers around. Gem Store skins and Black Lion exclusive weapons have been visually stunning and even more legendary than some regular legendaries. The fact that we're getting a flat set of Black Lion skin level Legendaries is incredibly disappointing but reaffirms the ultimate problem with GW2 that the true end game is RNG Black Lion Chest skins. If the legendaries all look terrible, you'll spend more on keys for their actual good skins to transmute onto them... after all,  players only get legendaries for the stat swap, right? /s

If the legys really become cheaper, it will appeal to people who don't like any of the current legys and would transmute them anyway. I can imagine a lot of people from my circle of friends who would make the legys just for the qol ... if they are cheaper.

it looks like a Black Lion Skin but it might be cheaper to make they look all the same so it will fit for people who want that look.

In that case they could have at least included underwater ones - but they didn't bother to make even that much of an effort.

 

This set is really underwhelming as a legendary. It would have been better as just a set of skins, without the legendary hype.

I am disappointed, but expected this. A couple years of no new legendary weapons should have been enough to make unique legendaries, but I'll deal with this. It will be easy to decide what older legendaries to make instead.

Its weird, because they're based off Aurene, but your going to Cantha. So shouldn't the weapons be based off of Cantha? Why are they SO FIXATED on Aurene This isnt even our personal story anymore. This whole thing is about Aurene and we're kind of there along the way.

 

Rant aside. I feel what would have been a better choice if they were going with the EoD theme, is make weapons based off the dragons in game. Or as I've stated, based off Canthan lore. Urgoz Longbow springs to mind.

Legendary weapons getting lore in the Armory update was very cool. The weapons are all unique with their own histories. They felt like actual mythical weapons. The Gen 3 set comes off as boring and uninspired.

I saw several things in the info dump that I liked and I will definitely be purchasing the expansion.  However, a SET of legendary weapons that all look the same is not something that interests me in the least.  I am disappointed.  Every legendary in pastel colors?  No, thank you.  At least the precursor will be an ascended weapon.  Very likely I would do all of the "Returns" content regardless of what the final rewards were, so no harm there, but still disappointed.

There were a few gen2 legendaries that I didn't care for and almost the entire list of gen 1 legendaries where just ugly as hell to me.

At least Gen 3 legendaries actually look like legendary weapons, even if they all share a theme.

People can mock them as Black Lion Skins but at the end of the day some of the best skins in the game are Black Lion skins lol 
Hell if you give a bunch of effects etc to some BL skins those skins would both look at feel far more legendary and prestigious than pretty much all the existing legendaries bar a few exceptions.

Let me tell you, you get tired of using the same skin that nearly every player has and you transmute it to something else anyway. 

 

It's going to get real old real fast seeing everyone with the same shiny aurene crystal weapons, people will xmute them.

Legendary is basically for the functionality and maybe if we're lucky they'll make the newer gen cheaper and more accessible.
