Thank you for not caring about your players, Anet

Recommended Posts

For years, players have been complaining about the extremely bright flashing lights and particle effects that are painful to look at. They’re painful for players with sensitive eyes, and bad for EVERYONE! Not only have you not addressed these, you keep adding more and more. I saw the video and saw that when you unsheathe the gen 3 greatsword, there’s yet another bright flashing particle effect that is painful to look at. I already can’t use the Pharus because of the same reason. I can’t use Holosmith because of the spam of flashing lights for every freaking skill. I have to close to eyes every time I interact with a Vista. I cannot look at the screen when a player gathers a mining node with the Volatile Magic mining tool. I have to go somewhere else when somebody with radioactive infusion combination is trolling a bank. The list goes on and on.

Thank you for giving players like us the middle finger.

EDIT: Sorry, but suggestions about adjusting the monitor’s brightness are completely useless. Many players who complain about these issues already have tried something so BASIC as adjusting the monitor’s settings. It doesn’t work. It’s not possible to remove the brightness of these lights without affecting everything else, such as making the rest of the game so dark that you cannot see in caves and dungeons.

Many players, such as myself, already have adjusted monitor settings, PC settings, game settings, tried 3rd party softwares, use gaming glasses, etc.  The only legitimate way to resolve this issue is, as players have been saying for years, for Anet to implement an option to turn these bright effects off. Even an indie game like Deadcells has an option to turn off bright flashing effects.

As for me neglecting myself by not seeing doctors... Not sure what these random assumptions are even based on…

Particle diarrhoea is by now the main selling point of GW2. Of the many "revolutionary" features they claimed to have pre-release, most fell flat on their faces. Of the actually interesting ones that stood out from the crowd, they've almost all been neglected and adopted by other games.

What GW2 still has is over the top stupid particle effects on clothing. Much of the playerbase has spent real money, as well as vast amounts of time in order to obtain this stuff. Removing it would kill off the phunny memer crowd who shout FASHION WARS at every opportunity...and thus a large source of the game's income.

In short: it will never happen.

Have you tried adjusting the brightness or something?
You're not wrong that they should not bundle all the effects in the same place, and that to have best visuals in some areas you have to eat the intense bloom and glare effects. But its not so bad that you need to look away...

You can't use some weapons for some reason, so anet should just delete all that kind of content ?

Have you ever consider most of gw2 players likes it ?

As Hypersensible person for noise and smell I some kind of feel you as it seems you have similar problems with visuals.
But the majority (including me) likes the bright effects in this game. So deleting it is not the right choice but implementing options to deactivate them or minimalize them would be nice, so everyone could choose individually 🙂

As for now you should try and play with the evailable options you already have in gw2 and on your monitor. there also are softwares that filter your monitor from blue lights if it hasn't such a function on its own already.

I mean, an option to reduce visual noise / visual effects would be nice. Doesnt need to be deleted.

I dont want it gone, but i do not like some of the stuff they do.

Also the forced camera angles, holy crap they make me sick. I wish they would stop doing that.

Serious here. Get your eyes checked.

These problems are not normal.

Being a bit sensitive sure but what you are describing needs medical attention.

Arenanet could give us an option to turn off all that particle spam on the client side.

Noone gets hurt and each individual player who chooses to turn off that particle spam gets to enjoy the game more.

It's a perfect solution.

That problem is only that Arenanet either lacks the ability to do so or simply doesn't want to.

At this point, Arenanet should at least add a seizure warning to the start up of the game.

Guess I will have to play GW2 wearing sunglasses, because I am still proud of my 11/10 eye sight and I don't want to book an appointment to an ophthalmologist.

But seriously, Anet. All these shiny particles are really annoying to my eyes. End the sparkles please.

Yeah, I don't understand why we can't turn off these annoying effects like in other MMOs.

I don't think they can.  Something to do with the engine or it could be that flashing stuff on the gem store wouldn't sell well if everyone could turn those effect off.

Maybe when we get DX11 that will change, I'm no expert.

But I am in full agreement, those effects really drag the game through the dirt.  They are hideous and one of the games greatest turn offs.

This.

In all seriousness, not seeking medical attention in such a severe case is just negligent (or in case of just hyperbole, strait up just dishonest). To then blame others for the issues one experiences is just shifting the blame.

That does not remove the legitimate demand for better customization options, but there are ways to solve this issue without developer help.

It doesn't need to be deleted from the game. Players just need an option to turn off the visual spam (just as they can with the noise of other players instruments, weapons etc. So that they personally don't see it.

Let those that want to shine, shine... let those that don't want to see it, have an option to turn it off from their side.

Eye fatigue is normal. All the human lamps do is expedite the process and are indeed an eyesore. Client side toggle is all that really needs to be added. No one is going to delete your precious 8 stacks of infusions. Just that those with any taste/self control won't be forced to indulge in your pixel puke garbage sense of fashion.

Some folks just cant afford to go get their eyes checked. Not OPS case, but ive had people tell me that because i get motion sick from the forced FOVs and stuff they have in this game, and it boggles my mind thats the go to, my eyes are however fine with no issues(aside from being blind, and yes i have glasses that i wear unless im sleeping.)

My eyes are light sensitive and I get migraines. Anet's level of care = 0, even on forums with no dark mode.

The Gen 3 legendaries are an eyesore, literally. And they probably won't let us dye them or their effects to fix them and no options to turn off anything. They've always had an obsession with a 'the brighter the better' mentality. In FFXIV there isn't so much visual noise pollution in general with equipment and effects (except for Holy) and when there are too many effects going on I can just press a button on my hotbar that turns off other peoples' effects.
