Price for EOD increases at checkout

Recommended Posts

Current workaround for this bug.

Bought the game via in-game store, price reflected correctly and added to my account etc without issue.

So currently, price change only occurs on website.

Edit: I have screenshots if you need them (@devs)

Do you live in a taxable area?  That could be it.

I'm sure that is it. That's what happens whenever I purchase anything, whether from the gem store, or here online.

The cost is always in US dollars, despite my info correctly registering as Canadian.

EoD cost was $79.99 with added tax at 10%, which is my provincial tax rate, totalled $87.97 USD.

EoD cost at $29.99 totalled $32.98 USD after taxes.

I live in Canada. Similar situation happened to me on Tuesday pre-order release. $85.59 USD from website purchase, $79.99 USD from ingame shop upgrade. I bought 2x EOD Ultimate editions for my 1st and 2nd accounts. Promptly cancelled/requested refund for 1st purchase from the website and re-purchased ingame at $79.99 USD.

The only reason I bought from the website in the first place was because at the time the Black Lion Shop ingame was offline. Yes there is a Tax on my order as per the invoice reads of $5.23USD but for whatever reason that tax is included in the ingame shop pricing of $79.99 USD. So the total is $79.99USD before any currency conversion to CAD dollars.

My experiences purchasing in-game have always been the same. The tax "appears" to be included in the total price, but when I receive the invoice, there is tax added onto that total.

I'm also Canadian & the tax I'm charged is my provincial tax. Earlier I posted 10%, but to be accurate, it is 9.975% which is exactly the rate I'm charged whenever I make a purchase, whether in-game or directly from the website.

So my cost for EoD is the base cost as shown, so $79.99 & $29.99 plus tax at 9.975%, the total in USD. When the charges appear on my credit card statement, they'll have the additional conversion cost added to them.

As a fellow Canuck, I'm hopeful for you though Tiamat! 😊

EDIT: Just realized, you must be one of those lucky Canucks who live in a province with no provincial sales tax eh!! 😡 In which case, I don't understand why you were charged anything extra when buying from the website?? o/

in my case;
1st purchase from website on Tuesday July 27th (roughly 11:25am):
$112.25 CAD = $85.59 USD
CAD = 0.7625 USD

after refund and re-purchase nearly 12hrs later:
$105.02 CAD = $79.99 USD
CAD = 0.7617 USD

for context I live in Vancouver, Canada.

I do live in a taxable area(South Africa), but why would the in game store charge $79.99 and the website $91.99?

Does the in-game store not include tax then?

I don't think that it does, not judging by my experience buying there. You were charged 15% tax, which I see is equivalent to South Africa's VAT, so that makes sense to me, given that I'm charged my specific tax rate, on top of the base cost, as well.

I used to be so good at math... heheh

I'm not sure Tiamat. If you were charged $85.59 USD, then that represents the base cost of $79.99 plus your provincial sales tax at 7%, which is consistent with my purchases as well & makes sense to me.

But if you've only been charged the base cost of $79.99 USD, then I think it's a fluke, a one off.
