Necromancer left click attack?

Hi all - I've been playing as a Ranger for a while and I use left click attack for my weapon, not by pressing 1 on my keyboard. If I leave the controls as they are and play as a Necromancer the left click attack shows the attack animations but does not actually attack and I have to press 2 to highlight the enemy and then 1 to attack. How can I just use left click attack on the Necromancer please so it's like the other professions?

Perhaps look into assigning targeting also to the left mouse button. Some weapon skills will not hit without a designated target. Does double-clicking select your target and start the auto-attack chain?

That's because both necromancer's ranged weapons (scepter and axe) require a target to apply their damage to, because they are single target non-projectile attacks. If you are using the action camera, you can use the right mouse button to select targets first I believe. There is also an option for auto targetting something if you do not have a target when using a skill, although most people disable this as it can be a hindeance with movement skills.
