Requesting screenshots of max height male Asura using Embiggening Tonic standing next to other races!

Recommended Posts

I'm just starting out in GW2. I really want to be an Asura Warrior, but one thing is holding me back, and that's their small size. I'm a transmog crackhead in MMOs and so I usually play larger races so I can show off better. However, the personality and animations of the Asura have won me over in GW2. So you see my problem.

I've read about the Endless Embiggening Tonic, and I'm wondering if a max height Asura male with the biggest body type and using the Tonic might just be enough to quell my hesitation. The Tonic is in a Season 3 zone and I plan on playing through the story in order, so it will be a while before I get there. So I was wondering if any Asura players who have the Tonic could go and take some comparison screenshots for me?

If you play a maximum height Asura Male and have the Tonic, I would love to see some pictures of you next to players of taller races who are *not* embiggened so I can see the height difference. I think if I can at least get close to the height of your typical human player character, I'll be able to commit to Asura with no second thoughts. Even a single picture would help, but if you want to be extra nice you could take a few with different races.

Thanks for indulging my strange request!

I made a midget Asura (smallest size on the slider), and the tonic knocks me up to about 2/3, maybe 3/4 of the size of a human.

But the tonic also makes your animations scale with it, and it suddenly feels sluggish rather than nimble (e.g., the dodge animation feels slow, footsteps become lumbering -- but speed of course remains constant). You also lose the ability to mount while under tonic. So i wouldn't really recommend it for long term play.

The problem with the tonic is that you can't use your mounts with it on.
As an asura main the best advice I can give you is: go to your options, adjust camera to character height. This brings the camera down to the level of your character's head. The camera will automatically adjust to the height of whatever character/race you play when you play it. So when the camera is at Asura head height, you're eye level with  your own character and will see their cosmetics as well as you can see things on any other character.
If that isn't quite good enough, you can also adjust your Field of View to zoom in slightly. (I dont recommend zooming in all the way though, especially during boss battles. x_x)

So, interesting question, I went and made a male Asuran, popped the Embig Tonic and.....well, you do have stature but standing next to a full height Norn male you are about waist/belly tall.  Against Humans you are about at the chest/shoulder.

I play a lot of Asuran characters and find them easy to see and enjoy the visual styling, even if they are the smallest body height.  I don't think it is really that much worse in a zerg to make out an Asuran over any other Tyrian race.  As well, there are a lot of players who are looking for cool or unique appearances and will talk to you if you have a good one, regardless of your size.

I say, play the Asuran you like, and enjoy the game

It was already possible to get the large character before the Endless Embiggening Potion was introduced. In Blazeridge Steppes at Degun Shun (Ogre Kraal), the leader Chieftain Seegor sells Growth Tonics. They grant the same effect, but only last 20 seconds.

Unlocking the vendor requires a little work, but if you want to test the effect before playing the LW episode, it is imo worth the trouble:

The Kraal is connected to a renown heart, so there is a higher chance the events are done by map-completionists once in a while. If that is not the case, the events can be done solo as well.

We can show you how it looks with our characters, but I recommend testing it for yourselves. Asura in general are quite fun to play. You are already something special if you decide to run a max-size asura - been there, done that.
