Off season you have 3 PvP game modes:

- WvW: for people who are in denial that they are bad at pvp so they wanna stomp others in an uneven fight

- Unranked conquest: same as ranked, but 10 times worse 

- 2v2/3v3: for people who like to faceroll their keyboard and spam aoe 

 

1. Theres literally zero reasons to have an "off-season" in this game. The only  thing it does is give people time to try other games and potentially leave gw2 forever.

 

2. Make 2v2/3v3s permanent. Yes, it will split population, but do we really want people who prefer 2v2/3v3s in our conquest games? Just let the people who like to spam aoe (like scourges) go there instead of ruining conquest. Everybody happy.

I don't know i think off seasons were supposed to be used by devs to reflect on the season and apply minor patches for balance reasons, we should wait and see how they approach this in the coming months.

 

Also not cool on shitting on WvW not cool bro.

While I mostly disagree with the overall topic I also would like to see 2v2 and 3v3 added into the game permanently.
Especially since I don't really buy the argument "it will split the playerbase". I mean.. yes, it obviously will split it but keep in mind that some people only want to play conquest while others only want to play deathmatch. So while the population in Conquest will be a bit lower it's probably not halfed or something like that.
This is speculation but maybe the game modes will become a tiny bit less toxic. If people who primarily want to go for kills can play deathmatch and people interested in Conquest have likeminded people on their team who are focusing on objectives, I think this could actually (slightly) improve the experience in a game.

If I was cynical I'd say we already have a split queue. And I don't even mean Unranked and Ranked (which also already splits the queue but let's not count Unranked as it serves a different purpose for a lot of people).
No I'm talking about Conquest and Stronghold. If you haven't played stronghold in the past couple years let me inform you: the game mode is not dead and queue times are not worse than in Ranked. Additionally you don't get steamrolled and the queues are actually rather balanced most of the time even tho there's no elo involved.

 

And if Anet is still too afraid to provide more options to players that could maybe somewhat revitalize sPvP, just add it as AT like in the special tournament week.

why are there still people who think conquest is worth a dam, with how balance is, solo/ duo q's and no team you cna choose, match manipulation, 1 person not knowing how to play making it an impossible 4v5 (or an afk rage quitter), and the same boring mode since launch? seems like some heavy denial. there are so many things that can go wrong, with other modes this isn't the case.

Just a split queue like stronghold for unranked 2v2 3v3 would be fine, only these modes get their mode deleted till the next RANKED season starts, considering that Stronghold has a tick box for unranked I think it is fair to have the option for deathmatch also there.
