If (and when) there is a livestream they'll tell us. That's transparent enough for me, while keeping a bit of mistery. Given the beta's from the 17th to the 21st it seems reasonable to speculate the livestream may take place on Friday 13th (great date btw) and that it could show all 3 specs' traits, if the show is anything like HoT's were. And if it's not, then we'll know on the 17th for kitten's sake.

 

I'm hoping they show sth about the "Hexslinger" this week, but if they don't that's ok too. Basically, let's enjoy the ride to these reveals.

It's nice, however, chiming in on Reddit instead of the Official forums is still leaving us in the dark since most people don't look to other places. Regardless, atleast it's still some communication or I should say clarification. But a lot of people were expecting something to talk about this week so I'm just going to assume next week they'll show a livestream revealing the necro + ele elite specs, along with their traitlines and the mesmer traits as well. 

 

I still don't get why they only showed the Mesmer elite spec and they should've atleast showed silhouettes for the others in all fairness. At the end of the day they need to do better with communication on this platform and keep everyone hyped for the expansion if they want people to even buy it because so far, a lot of people I've spoken to aren't touching their wallets until we get more info.

I don't need to ... if there was a 'standard' to met, I could go and read it and see what it says. There isn't. This 'standard' you are referring to is just the one you invented in your head, put Anet up to it, and claim they failed to meet it ... when it doesn't even exist. That's just unreasonable. Obviously you expect something, otherwise you wouldn't be inventing 'standards' they need to met to complain they don't.

People need to stop doing this ... there was no reason to expect something this week and unless Anet SAYS there will be something next week, also not expect anything next week either.

So you don't expect something ... but you hold Anet up to non-existent standards. That doesn't make sense. Be a critic all you like. It's a great way to remind people to stop inventing standards to take offense to when Anet doesn't meet them. 

 

I get it ... you didn't like what you saw at the first reveal. You don't need to invent a standard for Anet to meet to dislike what you saw and express it as a critique. In otherwords, don't expect to see something, not see it, then be all pissy about it. Stop setting expectations that requires the game to cater to your own ideas about how it works.

the entire "no expansion" fuzz after LS4, was this, Anet dont promised xpac, and someone started a buzz about a xpac that was never promised at first place. then they come with IBS.

I'm guessing reddit allows them to clarify without sounding too official since it's not the *official* forum. It's related to this idea of offering information without spoiling their marketing plans (which, of course, could be subject to changes due to unforeseen circumstances). Regardless, we got the information.

 

I'm not going to expect or assume anything, but what they've confirmed so far: no livestream this week and the beta on the 17th. However, we can all speculate responsibly in the meantime. Who knows? Maybe one of us has been spot on and they will be able to brag about it xD

No it's not a standard just because it was done that way before. That's you setting an expectation for no reason other than your desire to see it done like it was before.

 Holy kitten, anyone knows that you are a White Knight, but my God you are one dense beyond redemption LOL ! Do you either live in a bubble in your basement or you don't know kitten about marketing. Take my advice and if you want to be a white knight at least read some marketing lessons 101 to see how you attract customers or in our case, please your customers. I said it on another thread, spreading information about the expansion can be a valid way to hook a player base, however it also come with the risk of backfiring if it's not done properly.

 

With the unrest about e-specs that have been boiling on the official forum of GW2 this past week, I'm not sure a post on reddit is the best way to avoid the backfire.

Firstly, TROLL, you're literally the only one whose in this thread getting on everyone's nerves all because people genuinely want to be hyped up for the game and end up being disappointed just because they didn't get a reveal. Either them setting themselves up disappointment or ANET, REGARDLESS, everyone has the RIGHT to speculate and expect because some of us would like something to talk about since we already have to wait weeks for the beta events and months before the actually expansion releases. So SOMETHING would be nice to hold us over until then instead of absolutely nothing.

 

Secondly, get out of my face, get out of everyone elses faces on this thread and go about your own business because clearly you contribute NOTHING to this thread aside from ruffling peoples feathers and causing unnecessary drama just because people are upset they didn't get a new elite spec reveal this week and THAT'S bothering to such a high degree?! Right ... why? Because they have expectations that aren't inline with how Anet is doing things. So basically, if you don't want to be disappointed, don't invent your own ideas of what you will see, or get, or when it will happen or what will happen when it does. If Anet doesn't say "Hey guys, we are doing a livestream on Friday" ... then don't EXPECT a livestream on Friday. That's just nonsense.

GW2 twitter says Aug. 13th for the next reveal with two of the specs being revealed. The post also had a dual sword wielding class shown, all black with red highlights. I bet it is thief and the crossed sword icon is for them

I was disappointed that we didn't see all (or more) of the elite specs with the livestream, but I think it's worth keeping in mind that Path of Fire marketing was pretty compressed because when it was formally announced, it was only 2-3 months until it was released. They didn't have TIME to draw out the reveals like they usually do. But when you look at the other examples? Heart of Thorns elite speculation reveals were revealed over several months, even if we saw glimpses of a couple of them in the trailer. The profession reveals for the original release were, if I recall correctly, stretched out over the course of a year and a half from when the only professions we knew for sure were warrior, elementalist, and ranger, until we finally had the mesmer leaked.

 

This is also standard practice in the industry - if something is announced more than 2-3 months before release, the central features are drawn out over that timeframe to maintain interest (and, ultimately, out of what's been revealed so far, the elite specs ARE the central features). Path of Fire was the exception, not the standard. 

 

Now, I think there is some validity to pointing out that we were told we'd get the second elite reveal this week, and now that's apparently not happening. Maybe there'll be an explanation when it DOES happen. But they're certainly not breaking any marketing rules by spreading out over the reveals. Just be glad that we DO have a schedule across which we can be reasonably certain we'll see them all.

Hrrrmn. The helmet looks heavy, but that's not conclusive in itself - some medium sets do have helmets. Rest of the armour... overall has more of a medium than heavy feel, but he DOES look like he might be wearing greaves.

 

Both thief and guardian are typically represented by male humans, so... hard to say.

Helmet looks like the leather tier Warlord Helm from WvW. Some of the leather armors have greave like leg armor as well. That and the black and red does not say guardian to me.

The biggest problem with that is that it clearly shows red stuff there. From colour coding, guardian never had anything in this red colour in their artworks, but thief does.

The artwork usually have the e-spec piece of equipement so it might just be a look alike.

Honestly they should have revealed all the specs last week with their concept art, weapon and theme. Then deep dive each spec over the upcoming months. I was already disappointed with the EoD reveal, but when I saw that they were only going to reveal mesmer, i just stop watching. It was cherry on top of that kitten sandwich.

I understood that as well. I thought they would show one spec every week, leading up to the beta week.
