[Suggestion] "Lyssa's regret" jumping puzzle

Recommended Posts

I mean Chalice of Tears is pretty good but why not go full make-them-suffer mode? :D

Everyone likes mesmers in jumping puzzles, so lets take that away as well!

Alternatively "Ugh... Mesmers" is a JP theme suggestion!

Throughout the JP you are trying to reach the big beautiful shiny chest that keeps shattering or flying off revealing more of JP:

-Portals that lead to your doom

-Clones of yourself jumping off to their demise (may be some appearing at your position just before important jumps!)

-Illusionary walls

-Unpredictable light source blackouts

-Invisible platforms

-Drunk effect segment

-Random size/speed buffs

-Player enabled illusions

-A loveable omnipresent NPC trolling you all the way

And naturally in the end, when you finally reach the big beautiful shiny chest last illusion comes off: its just a regular small chest

If there is a way to rig actual player portals and position rewinder to teleport to wrong positions while in this area that would be ideal!

Some of those already exist in some form. Like a good part of inspiration came from Shark Maw, Vexa's Lab, Chaos Crystal Cavern's, Obsidian Sanctum.

But bringing all of those together would be truly evil <3

This will probably never get implemented but feel free to leave your evil mesmery ideas here haha

you didn't even read the post..

Read the post which is how I came to the conclusion it was a horrible idea (personal opinion as well as observation of community thoughts on tough JPs). Chaos Crystal Cavern does the things you suggest with the exception, granted, of flying chests, clones of yourself interfering with jumps, fake walls, and NPC companion.

Not liking your idea doesn't mean I'm posting from a point of hate, but I'm not sure how a thread like this was supposed to attract love posts either.

Also seems to imply that anyone who says no = hate.

I enjoy jumping puzzles and ive done them all. Chalice of Tears i did 3 times, and thats the worst designed puzzle i can think of(wont do it again unless im forced.) This puzzle would top that though.

Again CCC does one of the things that i listed (3 if you want to stretch it) and I mentioned that it does. The point is to bring all those together and unite with one theme.

"Horrible idea, yay for you" isn't a "no"

I enjoy jumping puzzles and I have done them all as well. Yet here i am suggestion this one. Everyone likes different things even within the same category.

I don't like mechanics which artificially make the puzzle frustrating like having to land on a platform that doesn't have a texture map on it (ie: the only part of the platform with weight supporting collision doesn't have ground/wall texture like the rest of the area so you can't visually tell you're supposed to go there -its hard to describe but it makes me angry when I encounter it because it's using a graphical shortcoming as a way to intentionally frustrate players)

I enjoy Crystal Cavern and I like doing challenging puzzles sometimes. I think your idea sounds really frustrating but in a good way and that it would be fun and irritating at the same time but make for a lot of great content on Youtube LOL!

I understand what you mean but it entirely depends on how the JP is done. For example in Sharkmaw there is a part where you have to jump in complete darkness ie "can't visually tell where you're supposed to go". But it teaches you ways around it: torches, light sources and aoe skills.

I would not want it to be unfairly frustrating too. I just think that in most Jumping Puzzles today emphases goes to Jumping more then it does to Puzzle.

Figuring out Sharkmaw for the first time may have been most memorable experience i had in GW2 even with all the great stuff that it has.

I really love the idea of clones jumping to death.

I wouldn't mind some crazy ridiculous JP like Ember Bay one. It's frustrating yes, but its nice because people have to work together.

They dont though. I did the whole thing solo, all three times.

Good jumping puzzles are amazing and id like more of them.

Jumping puzzles that rely on awful terrain(ember bay) and frustrating mechanics(Aetherblade puzzle, with its buggy launch platforms. And this suggestion is one too) are not the kind i want or enjoy.

Coupled with how much hate the puzzle in Ember Bay got, i hope they dont do another. Id be willing to bet more players have only finished that one due to mesmer portals than have actually done it themselves, not good design there at all.

I was specifically speaking about graphical glitches - things which should not be intentional.  (Ie: a corner you are supposed to land on and you can SEE a corner but the part y ou can see has no collision and the part you're supposed to land on is invisible due to no texture.)

Can we add ice physics, instant death spikes, and random angry clouds that shoot lightning at you?

ahaha, make the ice physics segment on a few platforms that don't look like ice until you land on them!

and in the end a checkpoint that doesn't actually save :classic_laugh:
