Why you guys excepted news raids for the release of EoD when we never got raids with a new expension ?

Recommended Posts

I seen a lot of people being angry at areanet cause they think the way that areanet presented new strikes cms as new raids, well i don't think it's the way they presented it.

All raids release were always with the living worlds after the expension release, never with the release of the expension.
For me they released strike to create more group content cheaply and added cm to make wait the "harcore" playerbase while they still think about releasing new raids during the new living world no ?

The way that they annonced strikes cms can be interpetred that way to instead of "no news raids ever here cms of strikes instead as the new hardcore content".
Personally i'm up for new raids and news strikes, as salvaging story content boss for easy content is a good thing to avoid wasting cool story boss that you only beat once for the story.

That might end up being true. With HoT launch, they told us raids were coming explicitly. With PoF, I don't believe that they did, but I can't remember at the time if there were reddit/forum/twitter posts about the raid near the announcement/launch of PoF. I think the idea behind "strikes instead of raids" boils down to:
1. They explicitly called out Strikes and Strike CMs, which they commented that it should provide challenge for raiders

2. By the time EoD comes out, it will have been 2.5 years since the last raid.

I agree with you that it would be GREAT for both to exist, but those two points above are at least why IMO it seems like they are moving into a Strike only future for 10man content. Which to be honest, still could be pretty awesome depending upon how the Strike CMs turn out.

but strike cm comment never say "no more raids" it could be as well be interpreted as "while waiting for new raids after the expension" or just "new hardmode option for raiders players" with no intend of removing raids.

But i guess no one can really guess and everyone kinda got exited with their theory,

it's in theses moement areanet should communicate more,

a lot of people were speaking loudly when they commented on legendary armory being "free to use", and people touught it's will be free to use but pay to get more slots or things like that, and not communicating make people believe it's was true even if in the end it's was not the case

Because, unlike it was with PoF, raiders pretty much knew Anet had no plan to continue doing raids. And thus they hoped for some confirmation that this policy has changed. And got angry when no such confirmation came.

There was no announcement about it tied to the expansion, but we still did know that the next wing was in the works. Just as we knew that wing 6 was, and that they supposedly started working on wing 7 even before wing 6 got released. On the other hand, the only info we've got after wing 7 is that raid population got so low it's no longer possible for Anet to justify further raid development.

It's not like there was anything that suggested there might be some raid information in expansion reveal. It's just that some players simply wanted such an information, and managed to persuade themselves that of course it would happen.

Yea but would be nice to get info even if its a negative one the holding on to hope is getting thin.

True, but then Anet always liked to string players along even when they knew the things players were imagining are coming are not planned at all. I remember sometimes during the first year of the game i asked about some clarification of the game direction (i think it was related to the ascended, and suggestions about further gear tiers and level cap increases that were present at that time). Basically, i wanted to know, if i have to give up on the game or i could i hope that it will return to the original direction. The anwer i got was somewhere around that i will not get an answer, because they try to not give definite statements about things they won't do, because they do not want to disappoint players.

From what i see, this approach is still very much in force. Almost everything is on the table, and very few things are ruled out - but what they have already decided to pick out of that pile you will learn only when they implement it, and what they did decide to skip over, you will only be able to guess by them not doing it.

They want us to cling to hope as long as possible. Because not confirming things means they will lose that player several weeks, months or even years later than if they did confirm it.

If they intended to deliver more raids, they would have made a mention of it in the announcement.

What many forget, and which ultimately seals the constant "hope" for new raid content:

The issues with raids is not the release of the next wing. That's just the result. The issue with raids is and always has been: a steady release schedule.

Let's assume for a moment that there is a new raid in the works. Maybe even scheduled to release with EoD or the next living world episode and the developers decide to keep it as a surprise. Now the raid wing releases, what then? Wait for another 2-3 years for the next wing and start this entire holding out hope from the start?

Raids are being replaced by strikes CMs. Those received a mention explicitly for that reason (while not showing any content).

As to why there is no clear communication on this issue? Simple, it's to keep the few hardcore players, who otherwise would immediately leave, with the game holding out hope.

EDIT:

This interview from today might be relevant:
