How in the heck did you come to that conclusion?  Natural population fluctuations as players leave the game or pick it back up years later would still cause imbalances.

 

It would be even worse if there were no ability to transfer too because a server would just sink to the bottom as players quit without any possibility of gaining new players, leading even more people to quit.

Well that was the point, they changed the bar a bit, and almost all the servers went to full. A small change again and almost all of them went to very high. That means that the majority of the servers where actually very close in Participation (Which is the closest metric we have to population).

The matchups tend to be unbalanced a couple of weeks after the relinks, due to glicko being used and population shifts and mass transfers.

After Friday's reset so many people complaining about WvW play.  We are playing against servers that are light years ahead of us I guess. We have minimal areas claimed and our guilds won't even tag up to play.  Why are the servers so unbalanced?  I think last matchup we were t3 and running pretty consistently in last place and now we are up against t2 players and it's so frustrating to have no land areas claimed and not able to claim due to outnumbered status.   So much chat surrounding this matchup this month.   When are we going to be more equally matched ?  Anet when are you going to fix WvW?

your first mistake was, that u think there is a "us". doesn't matter which server u are on, the populations are by no means set or fixed for eternity - nor even for the next week. people can transfer off any day.

 

if your group gets farmed, that can have a ton of issues. bad commanders, inexperienced overall players who additionally refuse to join voice

 

servers are unbalanced, because the one thing u cannot balance in Wvw is the humans controlling their avatars within the game.

 

some play drunk, some play to gank in groups of 5-10 single players and run from any other fight, others just plainly run from any fight as they are only here for reward scamming or for ppt. some just suicide into enemy groups once they build any siege, as they only play for ppt.

 

also depends a lot, WHEN u play. some have huge nightcrews, other are empty at 10pm etc.
