so i think its safe to say the megapatch was a method to create artificial scarcity to fuel sales of EoD. the drought has gone on for so long that people will jump at anything, and with how the new expac is being presented (honestly it looks beautiful) people will finally be able to say goodbye to the drought. imagine the relief! praise be anet! i'm pretty sure they did this before PoF as well but don't quote me.

 

buy the new expac to be strong.

The drought wasn't exactly a planned thing, if anything it's more of Anet mishandling their roadmap and a slew of other unfortunate things. The expansion was supposed to come after a full living story season. After season 4 they decided to try and sell people on another Living story season with "Expansion level content" rather than pumping out the next expansion, and then rebranding the season as a Saga. We also had Mike O, leave the Game Director position, and that was left with Mike Z, and then Mike Z (Former Game Director) left for Amazon. The Icebrood Saga approach probably wasn't a smash hit they were expecting it to be, then they hit the panic button and made a 180 to make the expansion.   The game got left in a directionless state for a while, and not to mention Covid being a thing and Ncsoft stepping in to restructure Anet, things were incredibly bumpy. The game now has a familiar head at the wheel again at least (Colin) and another familiar face (Grouch). So maybe things will start to get better again, hopefully.

most HoT elites are as powerful as PoF elites. Balance will surely be terribly bad after EOD release, but should be okay in few month…. In pve? Spvp? Good luck
