yann.1946
With the new collection edition bundling all the expacs it might be a good idea to bundle the living word with it so new players who buy it now dont miss the earlier s2-3 stuff. As the new story event (1 episode per week) is going on, it seems that anet is willing to increas the accesibility of these seasons. And i think it wouldbe healthier for the game. 6
Danikat.8537
I agree. I like that they have different versions at different prices so people can choose the one that's best for them, but I think it's missing one with everything for those who are sure they want to buy all the content up front (maybe people who have been playing on a free account and now want to do the whole story in order). Even if people don't want to buy that version having one with even more content than 'just' the base game and 3 expansions would make it clear "everything you need to experience Tyria" (which is what the collection says) isn't everything that's available to buy. On a minor note I think they should make it clearer that all 3 packs do include the base game. For people familiar with GW2 it's probably clear that goes without saying (literally) but I think it could be confusing for someone buying the game for the first time. Chrysaliss.8720
I agree, I have also encountered many instances, where players used the argument of having to buy living word (although heavily misinformed) as main reason not to play GW2. And by misinformed I mean, that their agrument was, that you have to buy Quests.. Which really is mainly a fault at Anets side of poor communication and confusing living world system. I've seen that too. People complaining about "I've already bought all the expansions, why do I have to buy the story separately?" Sometimes I wish they'd just called it DLC. I realise it may not be exactly what people typically think of as DLC and Anet probably want to emphasise the differences rather than the similarities but no one is surprised these days when they buy a game and find out there's additional DLC available to buy and it's relatively rare that they're angry about it, unless it is something stupid like you have to buy the ending to the main storyline separately. I've even seen quite a few games which are literally selling quest packs as DLC, either a stand-alone storyline or a selection of loosely related side-quests and even that seems fine with most people (the complaints I've seen are usually that it's not worth the money, not that they were confused at having an extra thing to buy). Mungrul.9358
Yeah, when I came back last year, knowing what to buy so that I had access to all the content I hadn't played was really confusing. If there had been a package including HoT, PoF and all the LW seasons, that would have been fab. As it happened, because it was all fragmented, I wasn't sure I had access to all of the content in the game even when I'd paid for it, I couldn't be sure that there wasn't something I'd missed. Teratus.2859
I've been asking then for years to bundle the living world into the expansions lol When you buy an expansion you assume that you'll be getting all the story up to the end of said expansion. It's very jarring when you realise that there is a whole chapter missing between the game you currently have and the new content you just bought and that you must pay an additional fee to access this missing chapter. I never liked this about Gw2.. sure it doesn't impact me as someone who played the game all these years and got them for free. But I know people who have thought about playing Gw2 and have decided against it because they don't like how much of the story they will have to pay for between the expansions because they weren't around at the right time. It feels like new players are being punished for being new players. Bundling the living world into the expansions would fix this problem imo

This rings especially true when you realise that each LW season after 2 has as many or more maps than HoT and PoF!* *IBS being the exception with only three maps, two of which were split in to two separate halves.
Inculpatus cedo.9234
It would be difficult to bundle Living World Season 4 and 5 (The Icebrood Saga) into currently offered packages without the upcoming laments, "I just purchased this, and now you are giving it away free".
