Legendary Rune

When you equip a legendary rune to a piece of armor that has a regular rune equipped, does the legendary rune destroy or unequip the rune in the armor?

 

I was thinking that the rune was destroyed, but wanted to make sure before I crafted any legendary runes.

If its not legendary armor then it will destroy the existing rune if putting a legendary rune in its place.

Legendary Runes only make sense in combination with legendary armor. Otherwise, you won't be able to use it across characters, which - with the new legendary armory system - would be a great loss. Also, you won't be able to use it in different loadouts on the same character if the loadouts hold different ascended armor sets.

I have no legendary armor but use my legendary runes on any character.

Your legendary rune/sigil will destroy the existing rune/sigil in the gear. Since leg. runes/sigils are added to the leg. locker, they are not destroyed. You can use extractors from BLC or the Gem Store to extract expensive ones, if you don't want them destroyed.
