Having issues with F1 key while playing game

The F1 button on my keyboard mutes or turns on sound.  I am playing elementalist and the F1 button is for switching elemental attacks.  It wont let me do it because it just mutes or turns on sound.  Anyone know how to adjust f1 so I dont have this problem?

There should be a function "Fn" key on the keyboard that toggles what those dual function keys do. It's generally located on either side of the space bar.

 

Alternatively, you could always change the key binding to not use F1.

You can disable the special functions (like mute, volume, screen brightness, etc.) so that your functions keys act like true function keys without having to press the Fn key at the same time. 

 

For Mac: System Prefs > Keyboard > check: "Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys"

For Windows 10: Press the Fn key + Fn Lock key to disable the special functions

 

The tradeoff is that you'd then need to then press Fn + F1 to toggle mute while playing the game.
