You can't turn off infusion effects in this game. If you don't like the effect, replace it with a neutral infusion.

Buy a karmic enrichment from a laurel vendor for 10 laurels and use that instead.

 

You don't need a new amulet, but if you put a new enrichment in without removing the old one I think it will be deleted. You can use an infusion extractions device (which works on enrichments as well and only costs 24 silver) to get it out. Or if you do delete it you'll be able to buy a new one from laurel vendors for 25 laurels and 5g.

 

Like the infusions which can sell for thousands of gold the birthday enrichment is mainly cosmetic, I think the karma boost is just there so you're not having to choose between the effect or something practical.
