Is there anyway to turn off the personal story star in the upper right side of your scree?

I feel your pain and I can tell you, there are only two ways to fix it.

1. Finish both personal story and LW2

2. Install arcdps and configure it to hide the personal story. The only downside is you'll have to disable it after every major patch and download again whenever the dev updates it.

This is not true, there is a different way and it's quite easy.
Press F11, goto General Options second option in User interface "Content Guide" select that one and set it to Disable Personal Story.

defo doesnt work. I have content guide turned entirely off, and the only characters that dont have the story thing in the top right corner are my two characters who have completely finished the story.

That does not work for the 'Green Star' notification.  Only for the Content Guide to point (or not to point) to your next Story location.

No, it doesn't work. As I said I've been of OP's position, doing research about what works and what doesn't. That method won't hide the personal story.

Ah sorry guys, thanks for correcting me, it seems like I forgot to mention that you also need to go to General options -> Dynamic HUD -> Objectives -> Never Show.

This will make it so that the objective is hidden ( which includes the personal story).

Yes, that will remove the Personal Story indicators, as well, as any Achievements tracked, or any other event notifications.
