Khalisto.5780
I'm currently learning necro My strategy pre nerf was, play core necro when i have some sort of support in my team, play scourge when i have another necro and play minionmancer when I'm the only necro After nerf it seems I'm restricted to core and reaper, but when should I play reaper? In what situations i should avoid playing reaper, what are reaper hard counters, it seems core necro is overall stronger than reaper I know reaper has better mobility and power burst

Restricted is a very poor choice of words here. Even if scourge is deleted (which it wont its still going to be strong) you have a lot of choices comeprare that to something like Mes or Wars now those are restricted on what can they play. Just smash your head on a keyboard amd you'll do fine on nec. No need to plan anything.
DoomNexus.5324
Scourge is overperforming atm. I strongly doubt that Scourge will fall out of meta due to the nerfs, it will remain to be a strong spec as it always has been. Sure there was a time where Reaper overshadowed Scourge but that was a Reaper-issue, not a Scourge-issue.

Sunshine.5014
Scourge will still be strong after the nerf. Overreacting is how you lose your game. Reducing a BMW series 5 price by 20% doesn't mean it suddenly is cheaper than a Toyota Corolla.
RedAvenged.5217
I wouldn’t say core necro is stronger than reaper. As far as ranked and unranked go- reaper is gonna be one of the best things in the game you can play as you can anything, team fight, rez, 1v1 or just go around bursting people and it’s one of the best in the game at that. that said reaper is a great go to, you may want to swap to core if they have a bunch of roaming builds like rev, thief or dh and you feel you might have trouble fighting them when they jump you. Core is by nature tankier, it spits out conditions around it including reveal and fear- it’ll help you stay alive and it can indeed counter them.

I feel like properly played reaper would do better every time, if you dont have a support you might have to do some build changes like taking ring for kiting

I would take the shout that gives unblockable, spectral walk and flesh wurm every time. though I’ve heard from a few that apparently condi reaper is an unknown inc meta- it might work on that
Locuz.2651
I personally play reaper when i see my team lacks raw dmg output. Reaper is really good at brute forcing fights. Its ideal to have other teammates that have some sustain tho. If you see your team has mostly roamers / glass canons its very likely youll end up on an island as lone "slow" brawler type. In that case id prefer to play something that is a bit better at stalling fights. Something like core necro for example. So if i see im with a scourge + core supp guard id go reaper. But if im with for example rev mesmer thief soulbeast id play core necro. (If i had to pick a necro spec in that situation). Dusty.6084
Berzerker reaper with spite and lich form when you are duo-Q with a really good support DH or something who will res you and keep you alive. IMO blood is a little overrated in such a bursty meta. Edited August 17, 2021 by Dusty.6084
