Hello guys. I’m looking to work on getting a full set of ascended gear. I’m pretty noob and I am looking for marauder stats for pvp/ WvW. A lot of this stuff seems overwhelming and I’m not really sure what way I should go about doing things. I was hoping to get some insight from players that know good methods and what not to go about doing things and would love any tips on how to go about things ! I’m willing to try all content :)

Hello! I recently started working toward obtaining the skyscale mount. Let me tell ya, it is so much and it is easy to become overwhelmed. I'm stating that because a lot of goals that you set for yourself can feel this way in this game (but that's why finally achieving it is awesome). 

 

So, my sincere advice to you is do it a step at a time. Don't think about all that you have to do, just work toward it piece by piece and eventually you'll achieve your goal. That's how I did my crafting anyway. GL

Note that you don't need gear for PvP -- it's provided for you.

Start by getting full exotic. In the mean time, craft time gated components (like mithrilium), as youll need a lot of it to craft ascended armour.

 

As an alternative, you can do the Triumphant reward tracks in WvW to unlock an exotic piece of gear at the end. That piece of gear unlocks the ability to buy its ascended counterpart from the WvW vendor (and that item can then be used in making a legendary).

1) PvP doesn't use the stats on your gear. You need something in the chest, leg and feet slots (but not head, shoulders or hands) and weapons to tell it which weapon skills you're using, but those could all be basic level 1 items. Your stats are determined by choosing a PvP 'amulet' from the build menu in the Heart of the Mists.

 

2) WvW does not need ascended gear. It will help a little bit, but not enough that it's worth waiting until you have a full set before starting.

 

3) Ascended equipment can come from certain achievements or drop in a small number of places (WvW rank chests, raids, Fractals, certain world bosses and very rarely from champions) but the only reliable ways are to craft it or get it from raid, Fractal or WvW specific vendors (all of which have prequisites and cost a lot of currencies specific to that game mode).

But if you want it for WvW probably the best approach is to start playing WvW and make sure you select the Triumphant reward track or Hero's weapon reward track. You may get some as drops just from playing, but getting the exotic triumphant armour and hero's weapons will unlock the abilty to buy ascended versions of the triumphant hero's armour and mistforged hero's weapons from the Skirmish Supervisor, and as an added bonus the armour pieces are precursors for the WvW legendary armour so if you decide to make legendaries you've already got some progress done. But the best part is you'll already be playing the game mode you're interested in, instead of waiting to have fun later on.

 

You can buy ascended trinkets (amulet, rings and accessories) and back items from the Skirmish Supervisor in WvW for memories of battle and skirmish tickets (both of which come from playing WvW).

 

The tricky part would be a backpack. There is one you can get from WvW, but it's the precursor to the legendary so it requires WvW rank 350, 2,450 skirmish tickets and a commander tag to get. A better option is probably to make either There With Yakkington or Quiver of a Thousand Arrows. They both cost about 50g, are made in the Mystic Forge so you don't need to level a crafting disipline first and the only complicated bit is getting a Vial of Condensed Mists Essence, which requires playing low level Fractals for a bit, until it either drops or you have 30 Fractal Relics to buy it.

be lazy like me use gems to get gold XD buy ascended recipes from Trading post ingame then convert to the stats you want as long as you have the spirit shards [60 needed]

trinkets and weapons are much easier you can get them via collection achievements or if that doesnt work crafted for around 40g if you buy everything instead of making yourself for weapons while trinkets you get from living world maps farm the bloodstone fen / bitterfrost frontier / bjora marches map gathering nodes for winterberries and blood ruby .
