Rogue Scholar.9438
I've had this occur several times over the last few months where my guild wars 2 game client deletes itself and I have to reinstall the game (which is a bit of a pain due to its size). I can't tell what's causing this to happen because I could play the game, for example, in the morning for an hour but when I come back in the evening and try to open the game I get a message telling me the exe file is gone. From trying to find something on google maybe it has something to do with the setup file being in my download file so I've moved that into the folder with the game client to see if that helps. Or I've read something about it maybe being a temp file but I've no idea what to do about that. It only seems to happen with guild wars 2. If anyone knows what I'm doing wrong I'll be grateful to find out! Thanks!

Some programms (there have been a bunch of reports at least for avast) remove the exe as a false positive.
Linken.6345
Gw2 install itself were you open it so if you download it in to your temporary folder from the internet and dont move it everything will be gone. Try moving it to c:\game\gw2\ for example
Rogue Scholar.9438
I don't know if this will help. When I click the download in the browser it downloads the GW2setup-64 to my downloads folder and when I click on install I download it to my E drive. All the other files remain but the GW2-64 vanishes periodically. I've moved the GW2setup-64 to the E drive. Hopefully that'll help. Maybe it won't make a difference lol. Rogue Scholar.9438
Would that be under exceptions in avast? Edited August 15, 2021 by Rogue Scholar.9438

I don't use avast, so I unfortunately can't tell you how the options look. But there should be a log, that shows what happened. It probably was quarantined because IDP.Generic or something like that was detected. There should also be a option to whitelist the file (according to the avast website: menu - settings - general - exceptions) where you can enter the gw2-64.exe
