What about our new gimmick?

There is an apparent leak that reveals warrior is indeed getting pistol!

 

What about the gimmick? The chosen utilities? Wellbenders got physical skills. What about ours?

 

What do you think our new utilities would be or what would be your hopes? Traps? Warrior Kits similar to Engineer Kits? Tricks like thieves? Or something new?

Warrior is getting kits. You heard it here first. Gonna get kits of different weapons that are summoned from sheer adrenaline. Activating the utility will require a certain amount of adrenaline, adding a small limited to the kits. This probably won’t happen, but a warrior can dream, right?

We've been dreaming of kits since before HoT. It'd be so dam awesome if we could get kits. They could even throw in spear and battle axe kits, the weapons warriors have been longing for but put into kits. But like you, I doubt it.

 

I'm thinking it'd be Tricks since it makes more sense for a gunslinger spec. But who knows. Some are still thinking the spec will be support.

I don't think it will be support, I believe it will be support.
As to what skills however, I'm leaning more towards gadgets than anything, being that this skill type is very vague it allows skills to summon items, cause an effect, do an attack or provide boons.

I would welcome the idea of kits however... To gain them the class would have to lose access to weapon swap.

Okay, how about something radical?  😈

 

Like traps utility skills that, when a pistol is equipped, function as wells that you can place (of course with radius restrictions).  This way you can launch/place them strategically in the heat of battle and not be constrained by static gameplay of typical traps.  If a pistol is not equipped then the traps are handled as they typically are, placed directly at your feet.

New pistol support  abilities:

 

Commanding Presence - Threaten your party you will shoot them if they don't obey orders. Your party gains stability, fury and might.

 

Lead by Example - Shoot a member of your party as an example to the rest, to know what happens when they don't obey orders. The chosen party members dies instantly (no downed state). The rest of your party (you excluded) gain every boon for 20 seconds. (in case you can't tell this will be the elite skill, don't want war to be too OP)

It would need more though, to ensure players actually bring you to a party.

 

Profession specialization passive:

 

Officers Disdain - Players in 2000 radius have their HP and power+condi damage halved, unless in squad/party with the warrior. Debuff stays for 10 hours in case they think they can cheat by getting into an instance. PvE only, cannot be cleansed, persists through death.

 

You don't even have to bother with thinking around multiple warriors at the same spot, cause when does that ever happen?

 

And you know what? This will actually teach players to fear warrior as much as they should.

Becasue the spec will be named Commander, but if another Commander joins you get auto kicked, and so forth until the Mists implode.

Had this concept for a WH Guardian and I'm not saying it's one I want or that it would be good but may be interesting but it could be a martial _ commander type spec with temporary summons almost like a combination of Renegade, Rise minions and Diablo 3's Crusader.  More permanent than clones/phantasms but not as permanent as actual Minions.

 

Utilities could be like a small military force.  Medic as heal, archers, shield wall etc etc.

 

May be interesting.

 

Again... I'm not saying I want the spec or that I'm encouraging AI specs, just saying it could be an interesting take on an existing mechanic.

Or they should just expand massively on such features in WvW. As in, summoning npcs for specific roles, escorts, assigning them to defend objectives or trade routes, building of barricades, setting minefields etc

Just had a thought for the name for the warrior elite spec along with a posibility:

The 'Armourer'

Loses access to their 2nd weapon set but gains kits with a weapon swap cooldown timer (can be traited with fast hands to lower their down time to 5s). Kits could include weapons that have never been in the game, spears, greataxes, rocket launchers, shotguns, kick/punching kit miniguns ect.

The spec would have to have a heavy focus on supporting allies while also providing damage trait options for their kits and weapons. Support wise, imagine the warrior dropped a limited use weapon for an ally to pick up as well when they activate the weapon kit when traited. This would allow allies to pick up weapons to use in combat to fight or to to support i.e. healing/barrier/protection/regeneration/condi cleansing ect ect.

 

This in turn would create a total of 45 new skills to play with.

 

I doubt this is what they have gone with but would be quite interesting if they did. (This also means you spear fan boiis would also get your wish of having a spear! Or monk like attacks using kicks and punches (not like rampage, normal tuned attacks that can be used like a normal rotation on a weapon)).

If you will not serve in combat, then you will serve on the firing line!

this would require some trait rework though. there are some stuff tied to our weapon swap.

it would be really funny if they actually let you shoot your party members that don't obey you
