  1. Vabbi hardly had a mass bandwagon of players, with their previous link though, which didn't have the population of something like Piken.

Don't look at being in T1 for 3 weeks make it seem like it is, as the tiers and matchups take a couple of weeks to balance out. Some commanders had to tag up more often to keep them there.

  2. FR and Vizunah again. Surprised there was no population update in the last week, cause T1 in the EU was like this though,, maybe next.

Also you paired an, FR and DE server, AR and Abaddons mouth.

  3. It's never going to happen. WvW is a niche game mode, with little competition, besides what? ESO?

There was hope after Camelot Unchained was announced, but that's been in development hell for over a decade..

Even the streamer/content creation side, has a smaller audience, compared to the maintenance mode PvP streamers, when it was being pushed as an 'esport'.

  4. 'Address' them like Mesmers? Are you serious?

Have you not noticed the current meta, stacking Chronomancers and the lack of boon strips lately? Or the skill lag?

You'll only hear from Anet about WR if it's done, usually about a month ahead of release, OR you'll hear that they scrapped it, usually about 2-3 years afterwards.

This. We'll probably get radio silence, for however months, until the feature is pushed out 'early'.

It took them months to tell us there would be no more Betas , which was promised back in June and that the Lead WvW Dev left the company in May. So we're stuck with several more Server Linking cycles, to cope with.

  6. I've heard of people playing with DX9 rather than DX11 because of their more dated PCs and having to restart their game as the game has some stuttering problem over a period of time.

Otherwise it still performs as you'd expect depending on your CPU even using DX11, if your Clock speeds are throttling it would be an issue.

  7. Gandara is more active than most WvW communities, right now a decent amount of commanders and Guilds, compared to Deso at least though, which is mostly pug driven nowadays, but Augury rock is very similar too, they just have alot more active WvW Guilds.

Sadly, the previous link with Fort Ranik got bandwagoned quite a bit and so getting stuck in T1 was not something we could control either, if only people didn't bandwagon after every relink.

  8. Guilds have been a key and important part of WvW for the past 10 years though, especially a Guild who was on my original Server, who put together an entire Teamspeak and Community site back in the day.

You had many pugs and commanders who were from guilds and got trained by being in those guilds, everybody had plenty of choice between guilds aswell, whether it be community,, open field, Roaming or GvG guilds, so you didn't even need to run solo, unless you wanted to and it was great.

  9. Gandara is mainly a prime time and Weekend server, the queues are already stupidly high though, so I wouldn't recommend even moving to FR, especially since T1 is lacking content, for organized groups or guilds.

Well this is true but they will have less to fight for and even for those commanders reason for tagging up depends on the timezone. While right now some popular guild commander might do couple of hours of PPT for their servers to face better opponents, it will be even rarer in alliance system. Not to mention they will have less people willing to tag up to kill and less knowledge of what opponents are on which alliance linking which makes them even less incentivised to tag up.

Well of course it fails if there are too many servers for the amount of players and glicko system holding servers from going up and down tiers for months even if they win matchups. With 1-up-1-down and only 4 tiers of servers, old system will be improved vastly

They did say they would work on rewards for winning weekly matchups and other things in this blog World vs. World Update: June 2022 – GuildWars2.com and also maybe bringing back Tournaments at some point, but obviously their priority is getting the Alliances up and running.

The Alliance Matchmaking Ladder won't be drastically different Studio Update: World Restructuring and the Future of World vs. World – GuildWars2.com, although a Season will last for we don't know how long yet, it won't be that hard to work out who you are up against either especially since we should have contacts with other Alliances, also  since Transfers should happen far, far less than we see now or even 10 years ago..

  11. In the 10 years I've played this Game/Game mode, there was drama from the very  early months on my original Server, between the amount of  Active players and Guilds in WvW. So it seems only natural to have internal issues among a Server or potential Alliance, but things worked out okay eventually, apart from the time they brought in Server Linkings, which created even more issues.

  12. Quite simply the games Competitive game modes, haven't been a priority for a long, long time over the years, so the WvW Dev team has shrunk since the early years of the game.

To be honest with you though, 10 years ago when I started playing this game, I never knew WvW existed as a new player, but then I was a low level and grinding levels in PVE, cause that was the only way to level up fast back in the day.

Sure WvW got some updates we really needed like the Reward system, qol and some balance updates which were really needed especially after the expansions bringing more power creep and broken e-specs, but obviously WvW is not nearly as popular as during it's early years, where they would market it and pour alot of resources into, or even how active and populated it used to be 4-5 years ago.

  13. I would hope, Gandara is probably just hyped about getting a link for now so the, even though getting linked to Fort Ranik is predictable by now. Because the queues and visual queue 'bug' are quite annoying right now, but you would think they would die down after the first week.

Although, it could be like after Deso spent 4 months without a link, before they got linked to RoF, before climbing to T1 after a couple of weeks from T5..

  14. Basically, they are describing what happened pre-HoT and post HoT, which was not fun at all to play against or with, effectively making Stability pretty much useless, as they rework stability just before HoT, with much worse results.

So it isn't a 'solution' at all, unless you enjoy pirate shipping or clouding, the latter which is still a thing that can be effective and annoying to fight against for Guild groups and smaller squads, especially inside structures with lots of siege and can actually be effective against blobs, unless you are heavily outnumbered or only a  map queue cloud of rangers and thieves..

  15. It would of been nice to restructure WvW and it's populations during these past 4 years, which is basically that WvW overhaul as they announced in 2018.

So I doubt even now that, WvW is a high enough priority, to put alot of resources to work on multiple WvW projects instead of pve and future expansions, alongside the project(s) they just starting working on again recently.
