[Official Greatsword and Legend Thread]

I personally don't want a GS but anyway, it will probably be what rev ends up getting because of the number of people that seem to want it. I expect the legend to be Asgeir Dragonrender.

From my point of view: Revenant was clearly designed by ANet to be the spiritual successor to the Ritualist and I think it's just wilful ignorance to think otherwise. It might not be so mechanically but that's because it had to be a soldier profession to complete the 3x3x3. It is anyway clear as day that this is the case. Any relation between ritualists and other professions before revenant was announced/released is just a lay-over from the fact that ANet put bits and pieces from GW1 professions that didn't make it into GW2 as their "own-thing". Once revenant came about though it was clearly design to be ritualist's successor, it even got a terrible spirit summoning spec... You can look into all the lore and history as much as you want but it really isn't that deep...

I really wish someone from ANet could just come here and put a nail in the coffin of this debate and just tell the community what's what

Why would we be channelling balthazar... to kill balthazar?All this wishing for balthazar to be a legend needs to stop. Same goes for (spoilers ahead) others like: Trahaerne, Eir, Tyblat, Sieran and Forgal. (spoilers end) any elder dragon. It makes so little sense! Legends should be characters from the lore that bridges the gaps between GW1 and GW2 or from GW1 but not in GW2 so there are no lore + current story conflicts, I think that is the path they're following anyway thank goodness. The entire profession's existence is already a huge plot-hole in lore.

The other two heavy professions already have greatsword so I want something different, a greatsword would just make the revenant aesthetically too cliche "black knight" for me. If it is a greatsword then give us a Norn legend please.

I chose scepter because I'm still hoping that that the renegade warband summons weren't the final nail in the coffin for a ritualisty spec... I would also like the idea of a pistol/pistol + Cobiah Marriner legend, that actually sounds awesome - I wish I picked pistols!
