    My theory is lack of group identity in USA culture, completly missing in American psychology books, whereas we are riddled with it - I know you won't be interested but Tajfel and Reicher have written well on this. "our membership of groups is part of our self concept" Social identity theory.

    Hard to get that buzz of loyalty going when all you have is either one guild or random placements all over the place

    I think USA servers and Euro servers might have different ambience? On my server anyone asks in chat for small roaming team or help to get warclaw or just for help coz they are new get grabbed by some kind soul/s

    And lesson number one is "DON'T BE LAST" as my friend is always saying (along with "are you dead yet?")

    Ahat are actually pretty abysmal ar wvw, tbh it is better that they leave it alone, being as when they do meddle they make it worse

    Nonono they cater to d bags who are ganking thieves that bounce across the map, becoming dot on horizon, then bounce back to stab and kill and stomp, less courageous pfft!

    shield gen gives more combat, which is important. It was needed because there are so many spots for siege that cannot be countered from outside in any other way.

    Doh! Stronger walls gives more time for defenders to get there, therefore more body bags as result of fights!

    ROFL!Don't be silly - wvw does not exist, it will not even get a mention in next expansion pack and they certainly will not do anything that thye have promised, balancing?? They were going to do it every few weeks, think they said that about a year ago? They would be shooting themselves in the head to make alliances about guilds - they need gem cash!

  11. Arena have ruined wvw - in many ways, but making walls and gates paper thin has just taken all the pleasure out of defending objectives. As soon as a place is under attack - the outer is down, call for help and use of EWP and then inner is down - it is pathetic. I stopped playing wvw for nearly a year when this 1st happened and now feel so angry that they have done nothing to improve it

    This is exactly what they find impossible to think of, or take into account. WvW stream each week is kill or be killed - totally NOT the game many enjoy where working together in teams is central to game pleasure, USA a culture of separate individuals - Europe a culture of groups. Any psychology textbook shows this - social psychology being totally different in USA compared with Europe, and ANET actually waste resources working collaboratively with USA researchersSuch a shame - I hear that "in the old days" people would actually go to Lion's Arch and ask for help to defend a garri (used to take 10 mins to break into, seige being weaker, walls and gates stronger, builds less overpowered) - wonderful way of building server pride, must have been fun in those days ...

    a) for a game that survives by people buying gems this would def be a reason why Anet would be suicidal if it brought in Guild Alliances, all the pvpers that play wvw now would just join the guilds with the most loot bag record - no more gems needed means less income for the game, unlikely to happenb) Can not have much server pride when bandwaggoners leap from server to server, we get server pride from social group identity, something that is not studied in USA psychology (see the psychology research Anet is involved with - very American) European psychology includes memberships of social groups giving us an identity and in return we grant our loyalty to them - This is what server pride should be. Will not get this with guild alliances for same reason as server pride is reduced now: loot bags being the only loyalty some players have.c) From what I hear a number of things have depleted the population in wvw (do we/Anet know any actual figures?), power creep being one, ppk being another, and bandwaggoning so that Huge Blobs of players are in the top 2 tiers and small groups cannot do anything w/o being obliterated. Back before walls and gates were made weaker at least a small group could defend an objective - now a tier 3 garri can have outer and inner broken in 1 minute 54 seconds by a blob. Eloge I had to look up - good phrasingd) Anet are not interested in players' quality of game life. Are we able to suggest any way they can make profit out of their wvw players (skins for new mount was step in right direction)

    Suggestions

    • How about a trial week where there is no ppk? People could claim and defend objectives, working together as a group, instead of running in relative silence with a commander
    • Poor Anet devs who have-a-go at wvw each week were surprised we use discord/TS for organising - little wonder they think wvw is all about killing and being killed, not much server pride for them ...
    • Please put back the walls and gates at their previous strength - so we have time to say in TS or Team chat that we are under attack - and our allies can come to defend. this would make objectives a thing of pride again - atm they are being reduced to a karma train
